I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks EA has taken a massive shit on the sports video game industry, especially NFL football. I used to love the 2k series (they still put out a fun hockey game) and I won't even touch a Madden title at all anymore because of how horrible they are.

I refuse to buy any EA title in result of this (including actually good games such as Dragon Age) and I would like to slap some of their execs up so they get shit right. Quintessential company who views the industry as dollars and cents and not making great games anymore despite massive budgets.

To be honest, I remember playing with Dallas, and they were okay. I tried Golden State though, and they were terribad

If they brought Blitz to Wii though I would definatly buy a Wii
Chis Mullen FROM THE OUTSIDE... SWISH!! The Warriors weren't very good though.

I owned the first ever Blitz for PS1 and played it so much... the Broncos were amazing with Elway, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, and one of the better Ds. Vikings were good too but had no defense.

I used to play Blitz, along with the old 6 player X-men game every year at the MN state fair arcade, but they shut down the arcade this year =/ that was a major reason why I went to the fair... you just can't emulate the experience of playing on an arcade machine with others

Ahh Detlev Schrimpppfpfhffhfhbppghphhttt. Dude could shoot a killer 3, but we used to have spitting contests over pronouncing his last name.

I think my favorite (best playing) version was the gamecube version - I used to curbstomp with Reggie Miller. My most memorable one was tournament edition, rolling with bill clinton and the clown.

It's like the voices of a million Wiimotes screamed out in the darkness.. and then were silenced.

Seriously I can't wait to hear about people jamming their controllers & breaking them in the process.

All I know is that Obama had better be a secret character in this game.

Slick Willy was the man in Jam: TE.

I haven't gotten my copy yet, but this month's Nintendo Power has a ton of info on the game. Here's a quick summary from someone who got the issue a little early:

    - All ingame shots appear to be from side court. There's a couple pictures from other angles but I think they're just promotional closeups or replays.

    - Fire, Cheats, Secret Characters, Mascots, Big Head mode, etc, all return.

    - The only real new gameplay addition seems to be a defensive spin move, which, if timed correctly, will evade steals / shoves

    - Default controller scheme has some gesture controls, however, you can also play using different control schemes that are purely buttons.

    - Character emotions are made out of digitized photos, every character has at least 7 facial expressions.

    - Arcade mode works the same as in NBA Jam, you have to defeat all the other teams. Yet they claim to have "legendary boss battles" thrown into the mix.

    - You unlock characters using some kind of achievement system. When asked if politicians could be unlocked EA gave a non-answer.

    - There's a second kind of campaign mode which seemingly involves special victory conditions being placed on the games. Details are sparse at the moment.

    - NP claims the game is very fun and true to the original.

Put Barack Obama in this game and I will play it forever. Him and Bill Clinton. So glad to see arcade sports games coming back.

This has to be the greatest news I've heard in a while. I am sure this game will bring my brother and I back together.

Almost the same thing as NBA Jam with football quirks. Late hits, power bombing people, over the top 80 yard bombs. Arcade football at it's best, almost better than the Mutant League games. "He's on Fire!" was more rare though. I think you had to get constant first downs with the same ball carrier, it forced the defense to have to take you down with 3+ people.

Blitz: The League sucked ass though.

A scan of gameplay from the Nintendo Power issue:

I love what they've done with their faces.

I wonder if this will have online play... if so, that might be enough to get me to buy a wii just for this game

^ This. I was waiting on MH3 but this is nostalgic as hell and online play would make it fun to boot. Damn, gonna have to brush up on my codes.

Fuck, this makes me want to get a wii. NBA jam was the only thing that made weekends at my mother's tolerable. That game was the shit. If this has Barack Obama as a secret character, I'm manning up and buying a wii.

Showed up on a German ratings board for PS3 and Xbox 360

Possible PSN/XBLA release? God I hope so, would rather buy this on a HD console.

The ESBR rated Limbo for PS3/PC, but that was quickly changed back to XBLA only.

Confirmed for PS3/Xbox 360. NBA Elite 11 on PS3/360 will be bundled with a voucher to download the HD version of NBA Jam which will be releasing on PSN and XBLA. Doesn't say how much it will be by itself on PSN/XBLA though. I would guess $20 tops.

So far, NBA Jam will still be a full $50 retail release on the Wii. But the Wii version hasn't been scaled back so will include more modes etc.

EDIT: Also, online multiplayer confirmed for PS3/360 versions, no confirmation if Wii will support it too but I don't see why not.

Looks like their ESPN interview gives more info.

"We're still holding back the Remix Tour for the Wii consumer, and that's about 20 hours of gameplay," EA Sports' Jordan Edelstein tells ESPN. "But for the PS3 and 360, we want people to try 'Elite'. We feel like 'NBA Elite 11' is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we're making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience 'Jam'. It's not the full product, but it's a good portion of it.

"And the only way to play 'Jam' on the 360 and PS3 is by picking up 'Elite'. There's a one-time use code that will be in every copy of 'Elite', so you just go online and redeem it. We're not selling 'Jam' on PSN or Xbox Live. If you still want the full product, the full experience is on the Wii, but if you pick up 'Elite', you're still getting a good taste of it, especially with the inclusion of online play."
Shame. So it'll only be available through buying NBA Elite 11 on PS3/360.
