this is the thing i hate about multiple spiderman titles. Each can, and does, have thier own origin stories. The one i am refering to is where dr. octopus opened some sort of portal to a place which was under perpetual war. That place generated these suits for use by their military. This is where spiderman came into contact with the symbiot. And Dr. Octopus came back with crazy guns and shit. Spidey used the suit to defeat Dr. Octopus.
From here the other story lines seem to merge, the suit makes him more agressive and whatnot. Then it culminates in the scene within the bell tower. The symbiote, removed from its host and dying latches onto eddie brock. Eddie Brock, and olympic athlete, and astronaut, was pissed at Parker for taking back Mary Jane when he was done banging Gwen.
So you had the Symbiot who hated spiderman (thought it stole its innocense when it was rejected by spidey), and you had eddie brock who hated parker (for stealing Mary Jane) merged into one. This venom was a nice package of seething hatred against one man.
Others he would help to save, if not through especially gruesome for the attacker. But, Spiderman would always be the ultimate evil in his eyes. So much so, that all the good Spidey would ever do ends up being twisted into some sinister alterior motive.
It was all awesome stuff.
I actualy have the encyclopedia for Spiderman, and batman, lying around the house. I think i might flip though that for bathroom reading again LOL.
I remember Eddie Brock being a thug who Spider Man caught, the symbiote was attracted to him from the intense hated he felt for Spider Man. It wasnt until after they merged that Eddie Brock learned who Spider Man was b/c of the memores the symbiote had. Likewise the symbiote still had a sense of justice from peter parker, so Eddie Brock would also go after bad guys, but of course he usually just kicked the crap out of em. /shrug Thats how I recall it, but I collected Spider Man comics a loooong time ago
I think they rushed the Venom narrative way too much in 3, it would take more than one film to do it justice and I knew it wasn't going to be done well along with Sandman and Green Goblin II being the villains also. Maybe they'll be able to do a good job with this spin-off that's going to be being made.
You guys dont remember eddie brock at all if that's how you "remember" him. He was just some shady punk ass photographer that was just slightly taller and bulkier in frame than peter was, but peter had long long LONG since been spider man so ot's the filled out peter i'm talking about, not the scrawny 15 year old he was at the start. Eddie wanted a big break so he interviewed someone who was confessing to be a serial killer. It was later found out that spidey had caught the guy and obviously peter had it on film so eddie was fired, disgraced, and pretty much shunned by his father.
He WAS an exceptional athlete in school but he didn't really beef up until after that event because he was worried about how his cancer would affect his body. He was depressed as fuck either way and went to the church to beg for god's forgiveness as he was about to kill himself. The symbiote had just been separated from peter at the same church and it looked for the next body, which was eddie's. The symbiote's hatred for peter and eddie's hatred for both peter AND spidey made them the perfect pair.
Ding ding. No idea where these other stories are coming from. You guys dont remember eddie brock at all if that's how you "remember" him. Meh, I still say the only good one was the first one.
Is the question: How can the current superhero genre be killed off in a more impressive fashion than the 1997 title Batman & Robin?
Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next Spider-Man hits theaters in the summer of 2012.
I only watched that movie to see Arnie pop off corny Ice/winter related jokes every five seconds.
