DSi Homebrew questions
Hey, I`m not sure if this the place to ask a question like this, but how exactly does hacking a DSI to play DS roms work, I assumed it would involve loading an SD card with a softmod and going from there but with the searching i have done, it seems there are a ton of custom SD cards to choose from and I am really not sure where to start, any advice would be great.

Get a cycloDS or AceKard for starters. Yes they cost more then the R4 and its clones but it has an active development team working with them still. I bought an R4 and regret it now cause of the limitations I currently have with it. After you buy the card you put the OS on it by downloading it from said manufactures site. Then you just drag and drop games on the micro SD card to your hearts content.

Thanks for the quick responses, Do I have to worry about card size when I purchase these or is it a non issue? Or do these cards go in the DS game slot and I then store games on a separate SD card.

Cards go in DS, a Micro SD card goes in the card. I think most can go up to ~8 gig for size of the Micro SD. Don't go by just my memory though.

How large is an average DS game, like how many could I fit on say, a 1 or 2 GB microSD card, also it says that the DS can use normal SD as well as HCSD cards, are those not usable in conjunction with mod cards?

Smallest I have is 8 KB, largest I have is 131 KB and everything in between. To answer your other question: I doubt it.
I currently have 22 games on my 2 GB R4 (a bunch doubles cause of my brother and one save file only games)

Uh, some of the newer DS games are taking up to 150ish MB. I dunno how the largest game you have is kilobytes.
Anyways, I have a 2 gig MicroSD card and it's more than enough. There's no need to have that many games at any given time. You can always take them off the card and put the onto your PC for storage if you don't feel like playing them at that exact moment.
