Nah, neither one of them is. Tales of Eternia stomps all over both... not in terms of story. But these are video games, not books

Never played any of the Tales games, so I can't really refute the point other than to say I can't imagine a better-made game than Suikoden II.

When I first played it... I was amazed at how awesome the combat was for a jRPG.

Yahtzee's gripe isn't dumb or anything as it is certainly true, but he doesn't seem to be capable of coming up with a conclusion. Though he doesn't need to, of course, because he is yahtzee. A comedian dressed as a critic or videogame writer. The whole article is suppose to read as a joke of some sort. Like spending words to say how pathetic (tabletop) RPGs are and skipping right to the end without finding out what the "role playing" really is. What is probably silliest of all is that he would change his definition of videogame RPG because many RPGs of a different definition wouldn't fit it. Err.
