It's usually better to just get the single card unless you can get a really good deal on 2x cheaper ones. The performance isn't doubled, what some people tend to think >.> You'll be getting double the heat and will need extra power cables for it.

The only reason I'd get 2 cards would be if I wanted to make a setup consisting of 3+ monitors.

Ok final update on my GPU adventure.

Sapphire 5850 and Thermaltake 600w arrived today from newegg. Had to find new homes for a lot of the cables as the stock psu had only the cables needed for the comp. Had to move my hard drive down a slot, and plug in the sata cables to new ports.

I used the drivers from the website not the disc included, and after installed, ran the ATI Overdrive application. Put the cards specs at almost full OC.

So after a few hours of glorious nerd tinkering I fired up MW2 (only game on the comp right now)

And it took my breath away, so worth the price.

If you are thinking of one of the newer ATI cards, make sure you have room for them, I had to do a lot of tinkering/modifying to get the monster to fit. PSU had the perfect double 6pin connectors to power the beast and I could not be happier.
