Hooking up with a professor, can it be done?

So a friend and I have are taking a course this semester and our instructor is gorgeous. She's quite young actually, I'm pretty sure she's a grad student who only teaches 1 course per semester while she's working on finishing her other degree. My friend is going crazy and is determined to hook up with her and I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind. My question - is this even possible? How does a student even go about hooking up with a professor?

Yes, it's possible. No, it's not likely.

Your best bet would be to get to know her in a setting that isn't the classroom, and the teacher/student norms don't apply.

It would also help if you wait and show her that you can get high marks in the class, and aren't using her for an easy A.

I suppose I was looking for wisdom from someone who had been in a similar situation or knew someone who was. Anyone attempting this would clearly be at a disadvantage, I don't think anybody who just 'went for it' would ever succeed.

Recommendable? make damned sure she's not too ethically conscious, because it might come back to you in a bad way.

It's not a common situation, even for an internet forum full of horse-cock studs like ourselves with flashy cars and an AmEx with no limits.

Being a male student making a pass at a female teacher is also going to work against you, which is why I said above that you want to get a chance to meet her outside of the classroom.

Seeing that your class will most likely be 16 weeks, you have a better shot if you take it slow. But if you're looking to hit it and quit it, then you need a little luck or circumstance to fall your way.

If she is a grad student who is getting TA credit, that helps, because she's not yet a professional in the field, and can still relate to other students.

But really, it's no different than trying to get with any other woman. HOWERVER, it's a bad situation because of the professional differences between you two. It's like dating your boss, or your secretary. It's not a good idea.
