I'm an undergrad living with 2 masters students and 1 lab technician who will become a masters student within a month or two, so I've gotten to know quite a few of the graduate students in my University. It is possible to hook up with one - even if they are teaching, but it is very difficult and unless you know what the hell you are doing.


I would suggest seeing if the prof goes to your schools graduate lounge and try to establish something there first. But honestly, I can't see this going anywhere.

You'd probably be more successful with strippers than professors/TAs. It can be done though. Go to office hours. Plant a seed in her head. Find common ground, something she likes that you like as well (or can convincingly pretend to like). Get her to see you as the interesting and intelligent person you are, not just a student/ID number in a class she teaches. If you aren't interesting or intelligent, well good luck. Wait until the semester is over, invite out for a drink to help "blow off steam."

The training runs ended up turning into training lunches/dinners and then training runs were shortly followed by training showers together.

Well, it *does* matter, to the point that if she has strong moral convictions, she will never cross "that line". But how many women in marriages have affairs every day? If the connection is strong enough, the line will be crossed for better or for worse.

But like I said above, if you have to ask, you can't do it. If you were going to do it, you would have already talked to her, smiled, said something clever, checked her response and laid the groundwork (no pun intended) for future work to get her to think you're clever.

I think you guys severely under-estimate how often this shit happens, and you'd be surprised at the number of universities that have no formal professor/student dating policy.

As a "man on the inside"...the fact that I don't bang my students often makes me seem more like an outlier than the norm...

Though I did two of my grad student teachers "back in the day" myself... it's even more common for that situation to transpire than with full professors...

Thanks to those who actually posted something useful. I'm left questioning how often some of the people who post in this thread actually approach women. It's not always as simple as "just do it mannn", sometimes it's good to take a step back and look at the situation. The pussy on the pedestal accusations are pretty fucking dumb, all I've said is "I have a good looking teacher, how could I approach this?"

I wouldn't say I'm on her level as far as looks go, although looks have never been a problem for me. I did other things with my life before going to college, so I'm probably around her age. I won't be providing pictures, she doesn't have any posted and taking a picture of anybody with the intent of putting it on the internet is something a stalker would do.

My friend is still committed although I honestly don't care too much at this point. If he does anything silly though I will certainly make light of it.
