You may be right. In retrospect, he didn't actually use his opinions of me AS his argument. In fact, I don't see where he has MADE an argument. Let's try to figure this out.

The problem, I see, is that we don't know what he means by "source" here. Are you referring to the source of my argument? The source of the material on the Wiki? Is he even attacking my source? He didn't really say that the Wiki was wrong. It looks like he's calling me to site the sources of my source? Isn't that a bit absurd? If I quote a person directly, is he going to follow it up with "Yeah, but where did HE learn it?" Is it going to turn into an infinite regression? I'm using the Wiki AS my source.

I see the term "parrot[ing]" as implying that I am making my argument from a state of ignorance of the subject. He seems to be saying that I'm not qualified to even make an argument. I'm afraid that's not how it works.

It occurs to me that this post is basically a more in-depth version of the first couple of lines in my previous post. Feel free to consider this a replacement of said lines if you'd like.



Also, it occurs to me that I used the term "proportional" wrong in the discussion regarding Religiosity and Intelligence. I meant to use the term "correlation" as I don't recall if the data is, in fact, proportional (inversely or directly).

Hey man, not my fault the Haitian government has been corrupt for oh the past30 something years or so. You should be happy 50 cents of my tax dollars goes toward their cause, if any.

If an earthquake of this magnitude were to occur in Turkey, the same type of response occures. The same thing happens if soemthing happens in with Japan, the Philipines, New Orleans, etc. Where people are struck with hardship so severe that an organised international effort has difficulty getting water, food, shelter, doctors, and rescue personel to the location... you should not be complaining about being forced to spend 50-77 cents. You should not complain about being forced to spend 20-50 dollars either.

To complain about helping these people is almost monsterous, despite how 'evil' the government is.

If this was to happen in the United States, you are damn sure that the people in the disaster will want/need assistance. A couple cases in point would be New Orleans, New York City, Californias wild fires, and the various floods that occur. The sole differance between the United States and Haiti that allows the United States to deal with such disasters would be its size. Its size allows for more people to pool thier resourcses together to help with the situation at hand. Haiti does not have this advantage. Relatively speaking, it need a lot more help dealing with such a disaster than the United States would if the earth quake happened here instead.
