Just as a heads up if you want to use your ps3 to watch blu rays in 1080p, you won't be able to with component. Games will work in 1080p just fine though.
Why don't you buy decent cables from store and try it out if the red dots go away. If it does then success but if it doesn't just return it and most likely it would be your tv that needs some adjustments.
Or just buy monoprice HDMI.
They work fine w/ 1080P on my TV w/ the PS3.
Still, I don't think this is a cable problem.
