GAxe all the way, Perdu Voulge would be the superior of those two choices.
As far as the 'best' WS to use, that's dependent on your buffs. If you are at or near capped Attack, which varies by mob, you'll want to use King's Justice. For Greater Colibri this typically entails Berserk, meat, and an outside Attack buff such as Chaos Roll or double Minuet.

If Berserk is down, and/or is your only Attack buff stick to Raging Rush. For birds aim for a RR build that hits 117 DEX while maintaining capped accuracy. Outside of that it's probably better to just stack acc > attack >STR.

Man/Joy still beats most less than perfect GA setups in ein/cities/glacier, though ridill is obviously even better

You really think so if you're considering even gear/merits for both setups? Or would that be assuming fully-geared Man/Joy w/ Axe/Sword merits vs. mediocre unmeritted GAxe?

When i calculated it, i did 8 sword 8 GA(which is my personal merit setup atm). While it depends largely on your gear, typically DW > non-rune chopper GA in accuracy capped situations. It can beat rune chopper, but only if you have the best of the best haste gear, and obviously blitz/dusk feet+1 over toreadors/aurum are costing you a bit of acc and lowering the frequency of accuracy capped situations.

Wouldn't that 'best' haste gear bring Perdu up just as much if not more, since you would have a greater chance of remaining at capped accuracy despite moving towards max Haste due to the higher skill/DEX to acc conversion?

Nin or Dnc for purely a SOLO only job, aka not xp merit stuff but hard things like charby, bune, roc, simmy, KA, scnms, behemoth, kretz, well you get the idea; hard nms to solo.

Charby: Both can solo, easier on NIN
Bune: Neither can solo with 100% reliability, NIN is a bit better
Roc: Neither can solo, easier to duo on NIN
Simmy: Neither can solo, very difficult for either to duo
KA: Both can solo, easier on NIN
Behemoth: Both can solo, easier on NIN
Kreutz: Both can solo, easier on NIN
SCNMs: Neither can solo any of them as far as i know

I'd say level RDM, but if it's really between those 2 then go for NIN.
