So sads... that was a rough scene.

    Spoiler: show
There's no way he's dead. We've got 45 minutes left after all. Probably playing possum since he won't be killed if he's in custody.

    Stupid ambiguous endings.

Of course if the show was continuing he'd make it. But since it's not, and we won't have TV to suspend disbelief, he probably won't make it.

Fucking awful ending...after Jack goes ape-shit for the last few episodes everything just fizzled out.

I enjoyed the ending, the main theme of 24 has always been about decisions for the greater good, and what one is willing to sacrifice in order to achieve peace. Every season Jack made decisions that were both morally questionable and slowly chipped away at his morality and sanity. These past few episodes showed a Jack that completely lost all sense of humanity as he went on a killing spree, and at the final second regained that sense of reason by not killing Sumarov. If he would have killed Sumarov, he would have officially crossed the line from Justice seeking Mercenary to Heartless Murderer.

Yeah it could have been better, my favorite parts were the interactions between Chloe and Jack, what the creators wanted to focus on most and they did really well. It was an "ok" series finale, but it wasn't really a finale since a movie is in the works.

Edit: I agree Seph, it was missing a sense of closure. Like last seasons finale, we're left with a "To be continued...."

Why the hate on the ending? It just shows that no matter what happens he will always be on the run and never truely find "peace." I remember I felt the same as you guys regarding closure when I was younger reading "Animorphs" and the ending was in the middle of a fight. The author wrote at the end that she ended that way because that is what they would always be doing, "fighting."

Loved the way they did the last scene with the drone screen fizzling out as it shut down. I am half expecting the movie to be canon and not directly related. If they did then it would prolly be him getting out of the country.

Hilarious if you don't think he'll get out, he is freaking Jack f'ing Bauer lol (nerd fan gogo)

Ending wasn't like Lost in terms of "!!!!!" but it is appropriate it I think because of who he is and what he'll always do. It is sad he could never settle down with his family but, after all these years of watching him, it wouldn't look right if he found peace even though I want him to have it.

    Jack Bauer forever <3

Can't wait for the movie <3

Edit: I like the way they closed the last scene in 24 than Lost's (even though Lost's was a symbolic way, it didn't feel as subtle to me for some reason)

I thought the ending was awesomely well done. They focused on what they wanted too, with Taylor making the right decisions, and Jacks trust in Chloe and vise versa. Logan got his, as Jack finally drove him past the breaking point, Hiller lost an ear (fuck yeah), Kim and Terri are (assumingly) protected, and JAck rides off into the sunset like The Man he is.

Just like mentioned before, all 8 days have been a slow progression from sane to insanity only to pull him back at the last second and have Jack remember hes still human and humane. I don't think they could have ended the tv series any better.

Movie script confirmed to be (near) finished, and Sutherland is supposed to read it over within the next few weeks. Filming set to start late 2010 prolly aiming for a summer/fall 2011 release.

What bugs me the most now is that after last years DVD release the tuesday after the finale, we have to wait until December 7th for the US DVD release for season 8. Bugger.

A lot of people are upset about the ending but you also have to remember that the show was pretty much wrapped up when FOX decided to cancel it. The writers left it open for a 9th Season but FOX said they weren't picking up any more episodes. Had they been informed at the beginning of the season that this was to be their last, they probably would have made a much more different ending.

Still as it was said in this thread, Jack can never find peace, and will always be on the run. If they do a movie, it could be about the Russians going after his family and we could have some closure then.

I'm fine with Jack still being on the run and even having some things left open, but the problem is that everything was left open. With the conspiracy about to be unveiled, we don't know what will happen with the Russians, if it'll start a war between them and the IRK, Taylor's punishment and aftermath of her resignation, etc.

It felt more like the beginning than the end.

That's why a movie is coming out, no?

I liked the ending, moreso than LOST. Sure it lacked some of the excitement of the recent episodes (minus the Mike Tyson ear bite) but I think it gave good closure. Jack is essentially run out of the country he loves, the President gets what she deserves (and Logan as well), Chloe and Jack have a nice goodbye scene where he tells her to protect Kim. It was a rather straight-forward ending for a straight-forward series.

That shit sucked. I'm pissed, I hate the fact that they're leaving shit wide open for a fucking movie to answer - if any - possible questions.

Logan shooting himself in the neck and not dying isn't what he deserves, it was a shitty conclusion for his involvement in everything including Palmer.

Really torn on how I feel about the ending. It's mostly Fox's fault for how close they decided to cancel the series so close to the end. I really wanted to see Jack kill at least Logan/Pillar, and I was kind of hoping Jack would die doing something bad-ass for honor/integrity/whatever.
