Realistically, you can look at clocks or text often because they have a tendency to change from glance to glance. It can be used to cause a lucid dream.

Metaphorically, I don't think you can.

Joe Bonham, a young soldier serving in World War I, awakens in a hospital bed after being caught in the blast of an exploding artillery shell.
