Get a cheap $5~10 usb converter for a ps2 or 360 controller, use windower, ???, profit. No reason to use the keyboard, playing with a controller on PC is far superior to console controller.

I think the biggest difference in soloing isn't the macros and the stupid third party tools but the fact that keyboard is extremely slow and absolutely awful to use compared to a controller. Being able to do a 20 min Faust without taking any damage on xbox 360 is pretty much proof that windower doesn't change a thing or make you all of a sudden a god at solo.
I'm just jumping on this without looking at the entire debate, so feel free to get angry. Whether windower makes a difference`depends on the demands of the solo and the system in question. Playing on PS3 using console style macros will definitely mark a difference if the task at hand is demanding (For instance, if it demands you hit multiple macros within a limited time frame or relies on timer information). More obvious, but less macro specific is the difference in blink macroing between the PC and PS3. I can't get blink macros to work unless the environment is particularly laggy, and even then, the functionality is so unexpected that I hardly gain from the benefit. This is to the point where I even reconsider blinking certain macros in favor of greater gear choices (Available due to the increase in macro space).

Suzaku, TP moves? Why don't you go solo it yourself before you try to make more inaccurate statements. I believe in my solo I got TPd no more than 5 times. That's a maximum. And the TP moves aren't dangerous..at all.
It's easy for you two to criticise Avesta's strategy in restrospect, because you are not the one who has to face the uncertainty in developing new strategy for a solo fight that has never been attempted before. He probably had considered other possible ways to handle suzy's chainspell but obviously opted for the one he felt would give the best chance of success. Like you said holding suzaku isn't even that hard esp. for someone who has done much harder straight taking fight; and he can't be 100% sure fleeing from chainspell will definitely work. It makes perfect sense for him to stick to a strategy which is guaranteed to work on paper and try to beat other players to claim the first win, and go back to refine his strategy aftewards.

It's easy to copy someone else's idea because you know it's proven to work and all you need to do is duplicate the result. Suzaku had long been considered impossible to solo since it's immune to Bind. Avesta proved that it's possible to survive Firaga with MDT/MDB gear and demonstrated one of the possible ways to handle Suzy's chainspell. Without his work, other RDMs wouldn't even have tried to come up with a better strategy.

I know we are not supposed to mention windower and plugins. Those who think players who don't use windower are gimping themselves remind me of ppl who lost their accounts to dup ban. Just because salvage gear drop rate sux does not justify cheating; and ppl shouldn't say using windower is ok because SE should have come up with a better gameplay mechanism.

On paper, suzaku gets 2 casts before you get out of range with a hermes, that won't even kill you if both are firaga as long as your MDT set is decent and you have SS up. His melee once he's out of mp is much more annoying than him having mp during chainspell..

Attention Retards: Avesta's cock is not particularly tasty, you can find much better things to suck on.

On the keyboard vs controller issue...

Had a friend in salvage ls who was a very very good monk. He played on ps2 and always complained about having to hit 2-3 macros to do a ws. When he finally got a computer that didn't suck and played on it, he was TERRIBLE. The reason? He would sit and wait for the macro bar to show up before hitting the right number. I find a lot of people who complain about keyboards do the exact same thing. Protip: macros will fire even if the bar doesn't appear. (Hilariously enough, it took him awhile to stop sucking on pc, because due to him playing on ps2 he never actually memorized which macro was where)

It's not or was never a "new" strategy. Just a new mob. Shut up.

Also you're pretty damn horrible at creating a convincing argument, especially if you keep adding weird snippets like this in.

This. There's no such thing as a new strategy in this game. There's basically 2 (3 if you count lolmelee) different strategies for all soloing, with only slight variations.

Best example of this was when ZNM was introduced in the game. Not 2 weeks later, all soloable mob were already figured out, possible kiting paths detailled.

So much for the "Unknown mob"

    this.

Press crtl, and your associated number, and it will fire.

Also, WASD is a very easy way of moving. It's even easier if you've played a FPS on PC.

The ONLY advantage controller has over Keyboard is the ability to tab in both directions easilly. If you tab past something (while camping an NM for example) you need to tab all the way around the available targets again or press shift+tab, which is dificult to do when speed of the essence.

@windower or not to windower. I started using windower because I was sick of seeking parties for hours on end while not being able to use my PC for something else at the same time. It was so retardedly pointless and unesseccary not being able to use your computer for anything else. Sitting in my moghouse staring at my moogle for hours was not my idea of a fun game. I started using windower so I could brouse the internet at the same time as seeking a party.

That is the primary reason most players I know use windower...

recast, tparty(should be in the game anyway) and unlimited macros are just a bonus.

There is a difference using keyboard..if you want to change your macro palette, you actually do need to wait a a second. This wait bothers me, as I'm sure it does to others as I'd rather not hold down Control or Alt the entire time I'm doing something.

Also, my hands are fairly small and I can't reach some of the numbers comfortably while still being being prepared to do something else and keeping an eye on the screen.

No shit? My point still stands. Controller is far more comfortable to play with. Besides, that was my second point, it holds far less significance to me than my first. That said, I can play with keyboard just fine.

    /thread.

/whm, carbonara, yonin most of the time but not all, brought 10 yag drinks, 20 hi pots, and 3 persikos au lait expecting a 30 min fight.. had to start conserving meds early on. Ended with 2 yag drinks and 8 potions leftover, not particularly hard though I have a very nice MDT build on ninja.

Anyone else trying this, use fucking sushi.. my hitrate averaged out to be below 50% the first hour(carb+1), then I swapped and it went quite a bit faster. In regards to speed, I also swapped out to auster's if shadows were down, pluto's/terra's for enfeebs, apollo's for cures, which cost minor damage. My normal weapons were Narigitsune and Shiranui and I did not wear any offensive gear. I weaponskilled with Blade: Kamu when I got tp without having to macro staves(not often), and it never grew, but the acc down also never stuck.

Maybe now Taruking can move on to your tasty pole of manliness and leave poor Avesta's shrivelled manhood alone.
