Never had a condom break. I have used Plan B before, however. Generally you're safe six days before ovulation and up to six days after (about a week before the period is due), however a girl can ovulate at any time if her periods are irregular. I've mapped my girlfriend's periods and I have yet to be inaccurate (even up to a year since her periods are regular) but she's called for the cavalry a couple of times to be safe.
You should have nothing to worry about if it was less than an hour after sex. Plan B (even now as the one-step) thickens the mucus so unless you have super sperm that sperm won't even make it up through her cervix.
Cool, thanks for the advice guys, I do feel better about this. The condom was from my college's health and wellness center, and it didn't expire until May, so I'm pissed it broke as easily as it did. I think the brand was Lifestyles, but frankly the condoms were free (not a good reason, I know), it's my school's fucking health center so I didn't expect it to be some cheap ass shit, and I've just got a giant bag of a bunch of random ones that I just pull one out of whenever it's time. I need to stick with Beyond Seven, those have worked the best for us at this point. Or Durex or Trojan, those have never failed on me yet.
Also double post, sorry, yeah the pill was 40 dollars for the box which is apparently cheap from some friends I talked to. The box was fucking big, thought it'd have two or three sets worth of pills in it but no, it was one dose only. Small price to pay for not having miniature versions of me running around right now. And I guess they know people will pay for it.
If your girlfriend was having problems on the pill she might on the Depo shot and Nuvaring as well. I tried both (with no doctor issues, was her suggestion actually) and was miserable (as well as gained 10lbs). I pretty much cannot use anything hormonal when it comes to birth control. She might be the same.
I've never tried IUD but I've heard horror stories about them poking through uteruses.
My husband and I have been doing a combination of the rhythm method and condoms for two years. Of course, I am over 30 so the likelihood of an accient is lower, plus we're pretty committed anyways if there was one.
On an interesting note, when I lived in South Korea I just had to go to the pharmacy and pick up a box of birth control pills. Didn't need a perscription or anything. They just hand them out like candy.
To the OP: Do you have any stairs near you? I may have a solution for your worries.
IUD's are the most effective method of birth control currently available. Great for women who find hormonal birth control systems kill their sex drive or have other undesierable side effects (mood swings, etc). While there is a low incident rate of women experiencing continuing discomfort, the vast majority have no problems except for slightly heavier flow. The ex I mentioned in my first post had an IUD put in when she had her abortion and she reports no problems whatsoever (we're broken up but find ourselves swapping sex stories about our current partners when we hang out every few weeks). After about 2 years together she found that her birth control was killing her sex drive but it perked right back up when we did the fertility awareness thing and she says it's stayed good with the IUD.
But, I understand that even the thought of the possiblity of aborting a foetus that has become fused with an IUD to be a horrifying thought, so the device may be a non-started for many women for various reasons. As a dude though I give the IUD two-thumbs up. Nothing to remember about, no refilling expensive prescriptions every month, and statistically the most effective contraceptive out there today.
Just answered my own questions about IUD's with google. Didn't know they come in plastic now. Remembered seeing a lot of women having to get them removed because of the metal doing fucked up things.
I've never had a condom break - when people say "oh shit the condom broke" are they saying "I hammered it home, dropped my load, pulled out and realized 'ruh roh it's everywhere!'" or is it just "I was thrusting and something didn't feel right, pulled out and low and behold the thing was all ripped up"?
Also, SB - why are you on the pill? You can't get pregnant from anal.
Can You Get Pregnant From Anal Sex?
Getting pregnant from anal sex is unlikely, although the possibility does exist. To understand this, let's briefly talk about how pregnancy occurs.
For pregnancy to occur, the sperm, which are in the semen, must enter the vagina, travel up through the cervix, into the uterus, and then into the fallopian tube to meet up with the egg. Once this happens, the sperm must fertilize the egg, and the resulting blastocyst (fertilized egg) must travel down the fallopian tube and implant in the uterus.
Sperm are able to enter the vagina when ejaculation or pre-ejaculation occurs inside or near the vagina. During anal sex, ejaculation occurs in the anus -- which is not connected in any way to the female reproductive tract (i.e., vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes). But any time semen comes in contact with the vagina, such as by dripping from the anus during anal sex, there is a possibility of becoming pregnant. The odds are not high, as the sperm would have to stay alive after dripping out of the anus and making their way up into the vaginal cavity, but the possibility is still there.
Not sure if it's different state to state but my PP charges for EVERYTHING. Nothing is free, they even have a disclaimer that an office visit fee may be applied

Also, PP claims Plan B is like 99% effective while my GF's Gyn says it's more like 90%. If you've taken one and get pregnant anyway (and decide to keep it), there isn't any developmental worries (in other words, the baby isn't going to be messed up because of what is in the pill).
all this talk about birth control, just pull out and abort, i've been using the pullout method for 5 years and we've only had to get 3 abortions
In that case, take up chronophillia so you wont have to worry about pulling out.
I don't remember saying I was on the pill? It's kinda pointless in my case.
You can't get pregnant from the anal sex, but there's a slim chance of unwanted transfer. I've never really seen it as a problem if the guy cums while he's balls deep inside you, like he should, and his cum doesn't have the consistency of water, it usually stays put long enough for you to do what you gotta do afterward without worrying about it. If you're that paranoid, missionary works great with anal, or just make her prop her ass up in the air more so it stays put.
But yeah, it really depends on where you are for Planned Parenthood, I know friends of mine get their birthcontrol for free, while others have to pay like $15 a month for theirs. I've also never heard of them charging for condoms though.
The best method of birth control: Don't tell her your last name.
From what I've heard from any of the females I know is that the IUDs are suggested after you've had a child. Main reason is because in order to get them inserted they have to dilate you a certain amount first.

I remembered this story from back in May, but research has shown that pulling out can be "as effective" as condoms.
