certainly not the case, at least with sagat I can say that uppercuts have WAY MORE priority now, they just do less damage, you can trade still IF YOU WANT, ryu of course cant do shit after, but if you think you can jump in on ryu and you arent gonna eat uppercut fadc ultra you sir are mistaken

Trade was part of that fear of jumping into him. NOW that he can't trade the likeliness of him successfully getting his ultra off is lowered. He WILL have to land his L.SRK successfully which doesn't happen if you know what you're doing when you jump in.

If it's against a skilled opponent (i.e. someone who can actually FADC) I'm not really too concerned if strategy x or y is effective, most of the serious Ryu nerfs are things that will burn scrubs that are sadly still able to win since Ryu is such an effective turtle.

Alot of the nerfs coming in Super definitely seem aimed at cutting out retardedly cheap tactics that were simply way way too effective (looking at you Lariat, I love playing as Gief but the nerf it's getting is 100% needed. Still effective as a good catch-all reversal, combo tool, or Anti-air, but taking away the extreme cheapness factor present after that initial hit), which is something I am 100% in favor of. Alot of it probably is my fault considering I'm pretty ass at SF4, but it frustrates me to no end losing to people who I can tell are just straight up bad, but are able to win because of stupid but overly effective strategies or cheap tactics.

Now if only we could have the option for blind select in every single online mode so counterpicking could be killed, but a man can dream.

I don't stay back throwing fireballs, I don't have the patience for it... typically I charge in and hope for the best lol

The proper translation says: "We've made some adjustments to the moves that she could just spam. For example, her Burning Kick, where even if the opponent blocks Viper is at an advantage. While there are no changes if the move hits or misses, on block we've added a few extra frames of recovery."

That doesn't sound too bad to me. Frankly, I abuse this sometimes myself ;o

Also, I don't know what they're smoking when they said cr MP was worse than cr MK. cr MK has a terrible hitbox, and is slow. At least cr MP you can fish for counter hits.

My brother only uses L.SRK with his Ryu and is wildly successful with his "any hit you land on me will be matched by my .05 frame L.SRK" style.

Even as Mr. Rufus Rushdown, I stumble with the speed of my combos off of dive kick simply because if I'm a modicum of a second slow, whatever I was trying to pull out will be eaten by that light SRK.

Its frustrating as fuck, to say the least, and I've never seen it used as successfully with Ken or Akuma.

I'm becoming a fucking pro at getting Time Over victories nowadays when I play as Bison, Gief or Akuma. I've been really getting into the habit of once I grab an advantage of just letting people come to me. It is pretty much the same gay ass shit I rip on people for, but the best way to kill a turtler is to force them to come to you once you grab any kind of advantage.

It also usually serves to piss people online off a lot so as soon I nab a victory that way I can usually just barrel in and go to town since they're minds are so out of the game after that happens.

I've never seen it used as successfully with Ken

From what I've gathered Ken is gonna be able to pull this off with ease in Super, since he's been getting buffs out the wazoo

@Krandor: We'll see what tournaments look like in the new SF. Rufus should still be pretty damned high, as none of the pros really abuse EX snake strike, so I should still have some styles to emulate at the higher levels.

Really, I just wish I saw more high level using the L.SRK more often. I don't understand why they go away from it, other than the fact that they use more rushdowns and mid-game footsies than my brother, so they don't need a style based on defense and frustrating punishes, but I'd still like to see a high level tournament-able shoto user that could draw out the same sense of teeth-grinding frustration that I get when constantly having to eat that damned .0000000000003th of a second first frame of the L.SRK.
