i saw the mizo vs. ojisan boy (i think anyway), if it's the one i'm thinking about it was all kinds of tomfoolery going on from blanka's side, and yeah the timing was impeccable also

also, i'm participating in my first tournament on saturday (small local one at a bar), anything i should know to avoid looking like a total scrub? i'm not too concerned with winning or anything i mostly just want to meet more local players, but anything i should be aware of beforehand?

i did go to SB4 (didn't play obviously) but that was a much much larger event.

Mizoteru came 3rd at Gods Garden 2 a few weeks ago with Blanka beating Mimochi and Ojisanboy in the process. His spacing and timing was just... sick.

mizo has been a beast since CVS2 and one of the best turtlers in the world, but his blanka play still fall short of some of the blanka originators like fax and sakiyo. and i cant think of another time a blanka has been placed so high besides those weekly tournaments they have... oh and mizo still lost that one to diago too lol.

blanka is easy prey, but regardless. he's still one of my favorite to use. i like taking risks, and thats all his best game is really. 50/50 ultras are a bit crazy sometimes

no one is better than anyone. you're apart of the scene now and part of a team. you will get wayyyy more growth from stuff like this than you EVER will online on those lolg-whatever matches. this is where you get to expand further on your ACTUAL reaction, instead of the reaction of your frames your router limits you to.

learn from your mistakes and dont ever take anything personal. the other dude is playing to win, too lol. and keep calm, even if you're winning. youll be fine. the more people see you grow as a player, the more they will fear/respect ya lol

but like i said, no one is better than anyone. dont give a fuck how many youtube videos they been on. you're fully capable of doing everything they can if you just put your mind and time into it and practice, etc

i HATE balrog matches on blanka, but i learned from it, and now its not as bad as i once thought lol. youll learn different strategies based on your adaption to the playstyle you're so familiar with.

you need to do go out and play some of those tourney players (for free in their houses or something. make friends) when its over so you can keep progressing.

you know what one of my worst matchups used to be? vega. yup. low tiered vega. there is a vega here in boca raton, that can give anyone a run for their money. and after playing his vega for almost 1 month, i feel like any other vega i play is just a waste of time lol.

i know what they'll do before they do, and i get a chance to fuck em over on it lol. and you will too. just learn the matchup and learn to deal with the most annoying shit


another trick i learned was to limit my own options. i used to abuse the slide. so i started to train myself to not EVER use the slide for a few days and adapt to that. and it makes you better. you are aware of your options on your offense to more than 1 category lol

i'm definitely trying, but it seems whenever i learn a new trick ryu just bullshits his way around it by linking all of his moves together and then ultraing me if i fuck up once

i dunno, i'd have figured with all of the fucking ryu's online i'd be able to beat at least most of them but i can't seem to get any of them today, if it's a seismo v. fireball game i'll win, but if they decide to not just throw fireballs their random pokes will usually beat mine and then of course ryu can combo into anything from anything, and forget about that fucking lp.srk -> ultra bullshit, if i slightly misstime a wakeup bk they just mash out lp.srk and hit me with an ultra, but if i try and seismo game from there they'll usually tatsu and that'll hit me, and doing nothing usually ends up with me just sitting in a corner being medium kicked to death because nothing i have will really beat it in a poke game, but ex seismo is too slow for cr.mk, and ex bk usually trades with whatever he does, and if i try and SJ out of a corner i find myself being lp.srk->ultra'ed a lot

i realize i fall into patterns a lot which i've been trying to stop by broadening my options, really all that's done has given ryu new and interesting ways to punish my every move

i really want some replays so i can go back and see exactly where i'm fucking up the most

edit; it's just ryu really, sagat (cept for scun's, which tears me a new one)/gief/akuma/ don't give me much trouble anymore, i suppose blanka but that's only because i don't know anyone who regularly plays him
