Huh? The damage and recovery on his up kicks was also changed, shoulder damage lowered, cr.mp damage lowered, palm damage lowered, f.mk damage lowered during gj, command grab start up and some invincibility lost, ex lunge is -1 now instead of +, and general genei gin damage is lowered.
Not sure how that only affects target combos.
You misunderstood him. S.MP is part of the target combo which it's range is so good.
Oh, okay. I was like.. he got much more nerfs than that!!
All of those are just damage normalizations. Yun will still play exactly the same outside of his Target Combo nerf. Instead of killing you in 2.5 combo's, he'll need 3.5 which is not a big deal in the grand scheme.
The only substantial NERF was to his ex command grab. Everything else is just fluff.
He also doesn't have the highest Vitality, the question will then be... will he make it to the 3rd combo? Who knows. He's going to be a solid character in 2012 but will require more work than he currently does to get wins. This will create a gap between people who picked him up for wins and people who are really that good with him. In terms of Tier listing there shouldn't be a drastic change, but some of his 7-3 match ups and 6-4 match ups might shift.
Yun already can't do them as low as people think because they're unsafe. Yun's dive kicks were never spammable like Rufus' and they had less hit stun than Yang's. As long as the angles are the same, I couldn't give a fuck about the height restriction. Smart Yun's never did them low anyway unless it was during a meaty cross up. Plus, they added more hit/block stun to the dive kick so it might even be better for the people who already know how to abuse them properly.
If Rufus' Dive Kick was made to steam roll, Yun's was made to snipe. As long as you know the distances, you'll still be able to shit on people with it. Height restriction doesn't change much.
^
I almost never do them low unless I'm crossing up after a knock down. Most Yuns neutral jump alot, and dive kick as they fall a bit.
Yeah what Uryuu said. Rufus dive kicks on the way up while Yun/Yang usually dive kick on their way down.
Most of it doesn't matter, you can counter Rufus dive kicks clean, while most characters can only hope to trade vs. Yun.
Or you can just react to it like a good player.
Hope to trade? Lol seriously? It's a dive kick not a DP.
Why would you trade? Most of the time if you aren't doing something and you see it coming you can smack them away with a normal, no trading involved.
If a Yun does it too high it's very easy to throw punish as well. Or you could you know, block, or block and then back dash if you think a command grab is coming.
For some reason people don't seem to tech when my dive kicks get blocked, that's also another route.
Damn, vryu and the srk makoto forum collaboration rules.
If you could react to it like a good player top Japanese like daigo kindevu momo tokido mago etc wouldn't be getting hit by it all the time relentlessly. Kazu had 0 chance of beating daigo in kumite until yun. You can alter your dive kick so easily that reaction attempts become punished. Get real lol uryuu or w/e I dint even know why you comment you are one of the worst players on this forum, no offense but at least deejay can legit toss an opinion around.
Also they aren't teching because if you go right into another lk dive kick there gies 40% of their life + a hard knockdown.

Exposing you as not knowing how to properly react to something = I am a bad player. Got it. I've seen you play, so I'm not too worried about how much weight your opinion holds.
It's ok to not know something with all your self proclaimed "OG" experience, you'll get over it.
