Oh yeah I don't particularly mind free upgrades.

Especially since I think I'll get great value from this having not bought or played any SF before. Or any fightan' game really since the original TTT.

I watched a SSFIV review and the guy said the online ranking sucks and you rarely get to fight opponents of your own skill level. Did they improve it in AE? I guess not :D

Also what's a good character for a noob to start with? I know I'll be struggling against the CPU lol

depends on your play style when you finaly get and understanding of the game mechanics.
like offensive characters that are always pressing buttons? C.viper, ken, seth, akuma
like defensive characters? - Charge characters- Guile,bison,balrog. or Dhalsim (not a charge) chun li

id say start with ryu. He has decent everything and a good FADC to ultra (focus attack dash cancel). Once you get a hang of timing and combos branch out play a little with everyone. Or go straight teir whore lol..

Definitely start off with Ryu to learn the fundamentals. I mained Bison since vanilla and never bothered to mess with FADC'ing shit because I never needed to. Now I find myself trying muscle memory learn it years later.

Are you using a Pad or a stick?

If you want wins online and to start off, use Blanka he will only become hard to use when you play people in the 2500PP/3000BP range. Think of it like driving a slow car in mario kart with good handling, you can only use it for so long.

Pad 'tis. I usually haven't had the patience to properly learn these games since there was previously no one to play seriously with, but I hope online mode will change things. Anyway maybe I'll just get bored instantly, so not investing in a stick for now.

Theres arcade mode right? I'll clear that with say ryu, ken, blanka and balrog first to figure out where I wanna go from there. Ryu sounds like someone to practice that fadc thing with at least. Looking at vids I kinda liked the way that south american chef guy plays though!
