Convince me why I wont regret buying a PS3

There is a huge diffrence between bluray and regular DVD format, bele dat. I didnt give two shits about collecting DVD's, but man I have a shit ton of blu rays, its hard for me to watch a regular DVD anymore, besides watching dvd format movies free online.

Netflix Bluray is pretty hot too.

I really dont care about quality. Well, that's not entirely true. I get distracted and it pisses me off when there's shitty quality. But once you hit DVD level I'm fine, HD and higher? Sure yeah that's cool I definitely notice it it's pretty but it's definitely not a requirement.

For the most part I only buy exclusives that are PS3 only for my PS3 (Which are very few) But it's also my Blu-ray player in the bedroom. I find the games that are on both consoles (PS3 and XBOX360) are way better on Xbox live,especially if you have a gold account, the experience is hands down better. Plus I play with my brothers and sister since we all got Gold accounts and tend to pick up games we recommend to each other. IN other words if you got more friends with 360's you'll probably play online with them more. I hardly play online with my PS3 too many jerks trying to rape me in home.

This is actually a huge plus (re: ps3 media server), especially considering the upgradable harddrives. One question though, I am pretty sure that they keep saying that you cant install different OSs on the PS3 slim which is what I'm looking at buying. Is there something I dont know, I haven't done the necessary research for that and dont really know where to look.

Er, I think you already know, but just to make sure... ps3 media server runs on your PC. You don't need to modify your Playstation 3 (any version) at all. Additionally, it streams media, so you don't even need a hard drive.

If DVD quality is fine, the wifi connection should suffice. I fortunately have ethernet connections all over the place. On the other hand, I'm currently capping ps3 media server to 80 mbit due to the 100 mbit actiontec fios router (until I get another gigabit switch). This is mainly for high-quality 1080p content (think 5.5 gigabytes per hour).

Also, in case anyone's wondering, ps3 media server supports subtitles.

It's a java app that transcodes files on the fly to supported formats on the PS3. It uses the PC to transcode, so if you are transcoding just normal SD shit, you'll be fine but you'll need a stronger PC for HD stuff.

It also lets you copy stuff straight to the hard drive of the PS3 from the PC with the copy feature. This gets around the 4GB cap imposed on transferring stuff through external hard drives as the PS3 only supports FAT32

I put them in a mix of priority I want them and the order I want to play them knowing that high ticket items wont come until later I moved them to the top even if I dont want to play them right away

Bioshock 2 > Darksiders > DMC4 is accurate after that I mix and match as far as priority and want
