Worst driving conditions you've been in?

The worst is a toss up. I once tried to drive through rain coming down so fast and hard we ended up having to pull over and wait for it to end. We couldn't see 2 feet in front of us. We came close to a couple wrecks that day.

The second was another rainy day with wind thrown in. The wind was so strong I couldn't keep my car straight and kept veering towards the ditch. I eventually just stopped by a friends house while I waited the storm out.

I've had some nasty snow and ice conditions here but nothing that's scared me.

was driving in a THICK fog...even with headlights and hi-beams on.

here's your first problem...high beams in fog only helps you see more fog. stick to lows and fog cutters only.

Blizzard of 2007 up here in MA.......

State got completely shut down, because dipshit mayors/governor decided to release all public employees and told companies to send employees home all at the same time.

Snow started at 11 am, was dropping 3-6inches of snow a hour and all employees in the state were released from work at 12.

Sucks attempting to drive a emergency vechicle in complete gridlock on every street in the city, and major highway. Ended up being quicker walking to destinations miles away.


I was trying to find a story from the local newspaper but couldnt, but traffic was so bad that kids were stuck in schools until 10pm-midnight (when they got released at noon).... and police officers walked to a car stuck in traffic who had a pregnant woman going into labor........... and the police escort was 4+ officers walking through traffic knocking on windows telling people to move for a few miles. Shit sucked

i drove around during hurricane katrina and did it at hurricane jean as well, lol. i went fishing and my last roommate was boogey boarding on Jean lol, but when we saw more lightning coming in, and the 1st waterspout, we just hit it and went back home lol. its not that bad if you're driving an SUV that can handle huge puddles and small floods.

Honostly my cars a peace of shit, and the high beams won't turn off. its either full force or no headlights

I live in CT, everything fog/snow/rain you can think of I've had to drive in. My saturn station wagon saved my life a few times, once sliding on a bridge in a huge ass storm.

I've seen crazy horror movie fog, couldn't see 15 ft in front of the car and I was on a windy backwood-ish road when it rolled in.

I remember 2 years ago, driving through this park during a heavy rainstorm. Came around a corner and had to slam on my brakes because the entire road was flooded. Not like a little water, like halfway up a stop sign flooded and looked like it got deeper further in. I have a picture somewhere of a playground that was almost fully submerged.

I drove about 5 miles in a white out blizzard. Couldnt see more then maybe 5 or 6 yards in front of my car. I was in the middle of Utah somewhere in the mountains. Scariest shit ever. Had semi trucks racing by me at 50 mph. When i asked a truck driver the next morning how they did it ( i pulled into a truck stop n fell out after about 30 mins) he said that they just guessed mostly. 0.o

was driving in a THICK fog, You could not see more than 20ft in front of you in the best of conditions, and in some side-streets where light is limited, you can't see more than 5 feet off the front of your car, even with headlights and hi-beams on.

probly been said by now, but turn your highbeams off in the fog. probly why you couldnt see too well.

I had a car without heat/defrost once. It was just a couple degrees above freezing and it started to lightly drizzle. I was doing about 40mph starting down a hill when I decided the drops on the windshield warranted a pass of my windshield wipers. Well... they weren't very good wipers and instead of clearing the windshield, they just smeared the water across the entire front, which instantly froze due to the wind-chill. So yeah, by that time I was doing something like 55mph at the bottom of this hill with oncoming traffic and a solid sheet of ice across my entire windshield. Luckily, the road was more or less straight, but that didn't stop my friend next to me from freaking the fuck out, lol.

I was in southern Ontario near Lake Erie during the late fall this year. I was on a busy county road (4 lanes wide and there was almost no room to move) and was going about 90km. We pass by this river and for whatever reason this thick thick fog just rolls right on top of us. I couldn't even see the lights of the car infront of me. The front my my car couldn't have been more than 10 feet from his bumper but it was like a wall was covering the car. I slowed down as much as I could as fast as I could and within 2 minutes the fog was completely gone.

Another time was when I was driving on the 401 just outside of Kingston Ontario. It was a sunny day, but it was pretty early. I was going down the highway at around 135km (it was dead empty) and I'm passing by this forest. The second the forest ended my car was blasted by this wall of wind and my entire car (full sized camry) literally was blown off the road. It doesn't seem like bad conditions but it was just so random and it scared the shit out of me so badly I drove the 4 hours back to my house with my hands in a death grip with the wheel.
