Something's very very wrong for a primarily democratic state to have picked a republican senator. Could it be Coakly's ineptness? I mean Obama and Hillary came down and helped campaign for her. Gee. Could it be this healthcare debate?

If your house catches on fire, it's free for firefighters to save it. If someone breaks into your house, the police will try to catch the suspect - for free.

Don't worry, history is used to obtuse masses overpowering the few enlightened. Savor the taste of self-righteous mediocrity while you can, because you're going to be eating that cake for a very long time.

Read the thread, we've been over this. Coakly is a moron with the personality of a chair, who thought the race was in the bag and didn't take it seriously until it was too late. And she made a bunch of dumb comments about Schilling and Fenway Park on top of it. Then, throw in that MA has a healthcare system that people are mostly happy with - something they stood to lose if the health care bill passes. So they voted in the guy most likely to vote against it.

You know, I don't really mind the partisan bickering and camps on both sides spinning stuff the way they do...

...but at least read the thread. I and others have addressed the paradox on trying to call this a reform on the health care debate.

I thought I was blocked by most of you liberals. Guess not. Oh here's something awesome though:

But senior adviser David Axelrod was a bit more transparent in criticizing the Coakley camp for a lackluster effort. In a gathering with regional reporters today, he said the White House "did everything we were asked to do" to help Coakley, adding: "I think if we had been asked earlier, we would have responded earlier."

They have a Republican Governor, so I'm going with choice A.

Barney Frank is also saying the same thing Jim Webb is. I say Fuck that shit! Like the Republicans would do that for the Dems.

it probably was Coakly's ineptness. as well as Democratic leadership.

NY 23rd congressional district was won by a Democrat for the first time in over 150 years. Could have it been the RNC and the Conservative candidate ineptness? I mean Sarah Palin, Glen beck, and Rush helped campiagn and or lobbied for him. Gee could it be this healthcare debate?

btw its not unheard of for a Republican to win in MA. Especially since the opposing party of the incumbent president tend to pick up seats in the following elections.

Oddly enough, there are a few intelligent republicans out there, sadly none of them post on BG.

Butt hurt much? Probably. Hey you should blame the Senate majority for destroying health care reform.

Because Rahm Emmanuel torpedoed the House with Blue Dogs thinking they would be on board for everything.

The health care debate has become and absolute partisan circus anyways. I almost wish the Dem's used the same 'fear and loathing' playbook the GOP does to scare votes and press into winning battles.

If Bush was still president and pushing for healthcare all he'd have to do is raise the threat level to orange and there'd be no debate.

Fuck what you heard but the Bush admin was clearly superior.

I don't know what you find so funny. The national policy was threatening to fuck with the healthcare that a very large portion of the state depends on. MA doesn't end at Worcester, Braintree, or Lynn.

Western MA, the north shore, southeastern MA, and a lot of Cape Cod, especially Cape Cod, are having the same economic difficulties as the rest of the country. We depend on our ability to rely on the healthcare we have.

Coakley's ineptness notwithstanding and ignoring the effect the bill would've had on the rest of the country - MA had a clear reason to side with the guy who has the power to stop the bill from messing with their healthcare.

Ironically, the vetoing of the bill may indicate at first that free healthcare isn't supported, but in MA what it means is simply that free and comprehensive healthcare reigns supreme.
