Lost: The Final Season (thread is extra spoilery, click at own risk)

I did indeed go to the overpriced Q&A tonight, but after the initial bitching that it was $12.50 a head, the end result was worth it. They showed some scenes from the series over the years while discussing a majority of the themes that are present throughout the show. They went over the writing process a lot as well as answered some write in questions like was the series planned out entirely from the beginning, some decent questions but nothing really exciting that I can remember.

Michael Emerson and Jorge Garcia made guest appearances during the talkabout making it more than worth the price of admission since Ben is above and beyond my favorite character along with Hurley.

At the very end they showed a teaser for the finale. There wasn't anything spoiler in the teaser is how they opened it up. The scene was:

Locke at the well with Sawyer looking at them from a bush. Ben comes up behind him and asks him to join them. They go over to the well and Sawyer sees that Desmond is missing out of the well. Sawyer comments that Locke needs Desmond to destroy the Island and Locke confirms. Locke then tells Sawyer that he and all the other candidates will die with the Island at which point Sawyer says there are no more candidates (or something to that affect meaning Jack has taken the job). Sawyer then hits Ben in the face, takes the gun and leaves. Ben comments that he thought Locke meant he was destroying the Island figuratively since he said he was leaving him in charge of it and Locke offers Ben the opportunity to join him on the boat. Locke then looks down next to the well and

kneels then says, "there are dog tracks here."

The audience Q&A was pretty much what you'd expect; people asking question that they know couldn't get answered or questions that were kind of dumb.

Some guy asking about his "friend's" theories on the show and whether the Man in Black was really the protagonist and Jacob the antagonist due to the parallels between the button in the hatch. His friend posed the idea that MiB and Jacob were the exact same as Jack and Locke with the button and that Jacob was only protecting on faith and was really the antagonist of the two because he brought people to the island for his selfish reasons when he didn't even know what was really going to happen if the light went away. They declined to comment alluding to something be addressed in the finale.

One last thing that was mentioned about the finale that MAY be considered spoiler (so I'll mark it as such) was about the final scenes of the finale.

Damon clearly stated that in the final seasons they were shooting were withheld from the cast and that there were a lot of people there that day. They asked if anyone had any final inqueries as to what was going on, or needed clarification with the show to which one cast member said, "Why would I start asking questions now?" Later when Jorge Garcia makes an appearance he states it was him who asks the question giving away that Hurley is in the final scenes of the finale in some form.

Overall it was a very good experience. Before we went I was getting cold feet thinking it would be a waste of money, but the guest appearance by Michael Emerson had me giddy like a school girl and Jorge Garcia showing up made it all the better. If anyone else went and would like to elaborate please do, because I missed a ton of stuff that happened I'm sure, but I can't think of anything else big or important off the top of my head that was really good.

We also haven't seen him in the sideways world (I think). It seems really unlikely to me that we don't see him at some point there.

If he never came to the island though, in the sideways world, he would have died hundreds of years ago.

Well, the timeline diverged 30 years ago, so he would have been on the island already (unless nuking it the island nuke it completely from that timeline)

There's also the possibility that he was actually on the island when it was nuked, as I don't believe the others had any method of travelling to or from it until after Dharmaville was cleared out. I suppose if his immortality remained even without the island, and if he could somehow (swim, drift, catch a passing boat, etc...) make his way from where the island was back to civilization, then yeah we could see him in the flash-sideways.

All these red carpet interviews have made me so psyched for this week! Josh's response saying how tragic Locke's character is makes me reaaaaaly hope for some redemption. Sure Jack would make a decent Jacob but Locke is the perfect combination of MiB and Jacob. He is / was without a doubt the true successor of Jacob.

Since he technically hasn't talked to MiB, he needs to get to this timeline and throw that knife in his back before he can speak. Who better to wield the knife.

I hope things turn out well for Locke, or at least end his story in a satisfying way, he deserves it.

Funny that during the first couple of seasons I couldn't stand the actor, but now he ranks up among my favorite cast members.

It used to be I was a Jack fan, oddly enough I have come to the point of spending most of the past two seasons hoping he would get killed.

It may be my imagination but I could of sworn MIB and Locke even started using each others mannerisms. The first time I noticed it I squealed like a schoolgirl.

Locke's acting has blown me away this season, my hat's off to Terry O Quinn.

Terry O'Quinn and John Noble (Fringe) are two of my favorite actors on Television. Coincidentally they are both on shows from J.J and they both play two different roles on their show. A bad guy and a good guy.

My least favorite is the time jumping, and temple early in season 6...I loved the rest.
