Who's got two thumbs and has been calling Hugo as the new Jacob forever? This guy.
Who's got two thumbs and has been calling Hugo as the new Jacob forever? This guy.
Hold on, just hold on a second...
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT SHIT??
I thought the lost writers repeatedly said the island wasn't purgatory.
The island wasn't purgatory, but the sideways world was. I think. I dunno, I need to go to bed and sleep on it.
20 pages growth between the start of the EST premiere (when I last looked at) and now, pretty impressive.
Maybe a mod should lock this thread once it hits 108 pages.
As far as i'm concerned, everything that mattered was resolved. After that finale I could really care less about how jacob's bro turned into smoke after going down into the light or even what his name is.
I just watched the ending again and it pretty much had the same effect.
God what an amazing show.
I havent posted in this thread all season, but doing so now because the Epicness is finally at an end. Loved it all. Look forward to reading pages and pages of comments at work tomorrow morning!
What a stupid ending. And what was resolved exactly? The finale basically made the entire 6 seasons meaningless and all our hours watching the show a waste of time.
Uh, let me go through the last minute of the show and see if I interpreted it incorrectly.
Jack goes back to the spot where he was lying after the crash. Then they showed the wreckage of the plane crash with no movement.
EVERYONE DIED! Not during the show, they died to BEGIN WITH, in the fucking plane crash.
So the entire island experience for everybody was purgatory, just like MOST SMART AUDIENCES guessed by season 2, which the writers repeatedly tried to deny.
What a fucking joke. Right now I'm trying to convince myself the character aspect of the show was worth it and hoping that I could forget this ending when I wake up tomorrow.
All I can say is......'wait, what?' O.o;;
I didn't what? I didn't interpreted it incorrectly?
Thank you for agreeing with me. Or if you fucked up the grammar and tried to disagree, why not explain where I got it wrong?
Ending was pretty awesome, been watching this for so long sad to see it go.
A bit confused though here's my questions.
How did they created this alternate universe?
So if that whole alternate universe is fake what is Jack's son suppose to be? something fake?
How was Juliet at the end of season 5 able to experience this stuff before everyone and why did she say it worked?
Finally why did they even need to be awakened in the first place, if this is suppose to be a purgatory type thing why was Desmond able to wake everyone up?
Confusing but love this show.
Alright ending. It was great seeing the reaction of the character's faces remembering their "old" lives.
Oh I read it wrong, my bad.
No one died in the plane crash, aside from the few who died in the Pilot, and Hurley did become the leader of the island with Ben as his #2. Christian saying that many of them died at different times and Hurley/Ben talking about their time protecting the island makes that pretty clear(or I though it did).
I guess you could interpret the sideways world as purgatory if you want but I saw it differently. I saw it as a place created by their collective consciousness so that they could find each other again after death and then move on when they are ready.
What exactly was your problem with it(assuming everything that happened on the island was real and not purgatory)?
I have to watch it again but I thought the wreckage at the end was just production shots to show that the show had come full circle and ended where it began. It was just symbolic.
Wow, thanks for that perspective. I could definitely live with that.
The last minute of the show just really irked me. Christian said they are all dead, then Jack came out of that cave alive and ended up where he was at the start of the show and then the wreckage shots just gave me the impression that the entire show was some kind of vision by Jack before he died to the crash.
Best ending to the best show ever. No show will ever top that ending. I was worried that this ending could possibly be disappointing after years of setup but enjoyed every minute of it.
Most things I can say have already been said about it, but I don't believe their time on the island was part of the afterlife like the sideways universe. Them seeing flashes of their time alive makes much more sense. Also, I don't think I've ever cried that much before for anything. Every time people were reunited in the afterlife and the ending totally got me.
I will definitely be getting the complete collection of this show at some point after it comes out. I never buy any TV shows or movies, but absolutely must own such an amazing show.
edit: Jimmy Kimmel remains to be not funny, and I'm glad the alternate endings on his show are just fake ones.
