Id say the permabannings did more damage than they were meant to help not only did it make the game more stale cos it rid many servers of motivated players but more quit as their friends were gone and many linkshells were damaged by the loss of core members. Personally i blame SE for making the drop rate so craptacular for salvage and for not noticing this for so long. At most they shouldve stripped the gear and temp banned, perma bans are inly good for botters and gilsellers. Ended up quitting ffxi in part due to it goin stake in part due to the bannings.

Apart from eliminating Garuda as an inter-server destination and making it harder to buy R/Ex items here, I can say that the bans had almost no impact on the server's endgame. SapereAude was a motivated event shell that sometimes claimed Tiamat, Khim, etc. We had an event about every night and did them all well. There aren't any shells like that anymore, but since spamming events has almost no impact on the economy it's hard to justify any price changes based on them. The price of Salvage upgrade items went up, but I know we weren't supplying more of those than we used so that can't be on us. Maybe Jack getting banned let more crafters try T0 stuff, but honestly most casual players don't have the capital to invest in churning out T0s anyway.

For the vast majority of the server, almost nothing has changed. It's just that ~20 of us were banned and now there are no event shells left as good as we were.

Seriously do miss a few people I'd never have the chance to meet in real life, but its sad but true- people who say "the game will never be the same" are forgetting they are still playing, so they must still get something out of it even with all those gone.

I didn't lose a single friend through the bannings. (cue obvious gag about having none anyway ). I think our linkshell lost one player and that was a US account holder who'd been with us a few months. Well he was a friend sure, we chatted on TS and such. I think US accounts got hit harder than non-US.

yep i did, but he duped with us before he left so not my fault. I continued to do it when he left cause he told me to get him an Ares body or Morrigans.

Edit: Also if someone from finale trys to say that he didn't say I could dupe him salvage gear, why would he give me lycender/pipii after the fact?

This. Bans didn't kill XI, however for many friends and myself it eviscerated the game.

Wow your an idiot. Maybe some of us who lost accounts deserved, maybe some didn't, maybe it didn't kill the game but it definitely did hurt several end game shells. I know of a shell on shiva that had a handful banned which caused a good part of their core to quit. I've been on four servers since restarting and I see the condition in the game. Its at a decline, and its not anyone single problem there's several reasons but too act as if this had no effect on servers that were hit hard then you're mistaken.
