Just a quick question.


Does anybody use Vaporizers when smoking pot? I've never used em before and my friend was telling me that he likes the vaporizers much better. He said using the the vaporizer is better on your lungs also.


I could really give 2 shits if it's better for your lungs or not, I really don't smoke often enough for it to make a difference.


I was thinking about picking one up if it was worth it. The link below is the one I was looking at. Feel free to recommend others if you have a preference.

could just use a bong with a filter on it, at least thats what i use when i smoke pot. never tried a vaporizer, but they dont seem that great >_>;

I have a vapo and tested it intensively a few months back.

If you aren't a frequent smoker, go for it, it'll get you high for a fraction of the weed used in a joint and it'll be better for your lungs.

If you are a frequent smoker, don't touch that shit since you won't feel it kicking in, or at least not the same way as smoking would do. It's basically a toned down version of a good high, similar with alcohol when being tipsy compared to being drunk. You'll still feel it, but it's smooth and lurks in without you even noticing it. Of course it's a valuable alternative if you smoke inside and have smoke detectors or don't want the smell to stick on your stuff, since it does smell but only lasts a few hours without a window, and at most an hour with a window opened.

Another con for the vapo is that most, if not all of them, have to be pre-heated first, so you gotta plug it in / turn it on (depending if it has batteries or not) at least 10 minutes before you feel like smoking, and you can't really leave it on more than 15 minutes or it gets too hot and the weed burns (which is exactly the opposite goal of the vapo).

My recommendation? Ask your friend to try it at least once before you buy one and see if you like it. Some of my friends liked it but I personally didn't, so it could be a matter of taste too (speaking of taste, what you inhale is not smoke, but rather something like vapor so you can take crazy long puffs without ever choking and it tastes quite differently of what you usually smoke, more subtle)

Tried one a couple of times. Much less harsh, and makes your stash last a bit longer. Also, it can make shwag seem less shwaggy. I like 'em, but the good ones can be expensive.

This and this over you will feel less high period than smoking. I don't know if it makes your stash longer rather than people just packing less because it has less room compared to a bong or a bowl. With bongs and bowls though you can scrape the black stuff out which is resin. With enough Resin you can compress it and smoke it and it's pretty much like smoking pure THC (which is what you smoke out of the weed the rest of the stuff in weed is not so good for you to inhale iirc).

If you wanna spend as much money on a vape you can get water filter bongs with percolators( I think they are called) and you'll notice a much better high imo

It's kinda a different high. My buddy just got one and we've been using it some. I like it alright but it's not one of those things that'll do fine on its own if you're a habitual smoker.

I saw some in Dam. My mates told me how they work. Pretty freaky if you ask me. It's basically like breathing in air, but with THC. So effectively you're just getting stoned on air.

I don't mind bongs, can't really take a massive hit on one tho. However, a vaporize doesnt fill your lungs to the point where you cough everything up, its just like taking a massive breathe. Plus it doesn't fill the room with a load of smoke.

I've had success teaching others by putting water in the bong, and then filling the entire think with ice. Really cools the smoke down so it isn't as harsh. That hasn't even worked for them though lol.

This is a problem with old vaporizers, they're still produced and are usually a fraction of the cost of convection vaporizors for that very reason.

A heating plate is a conduction vaporizer, the weed is actually heated directly by sitting on the plate. This is where you won't always get a constant temperature and end up smoldering or even burning it. Friends that have tried them ultimately trashed them shortly afterwards. They are daily smokers.

Convection vaporizors stream a constant temperature, often with dial or even digital setting, which passes through a chamber. The only heat which comes in contact with the weed is air, there are no metal plates to burn it. The most popular type is the Volcano.

Biggest con? A huge price tag which can literally span from $200 to $600. Worth it? I've tried it and while it is smooth, it's not nearly the same high from smoking. The taste is similar to smoking and is much much smoother, but still not the same high. I'd only recommend buying one if you have health concerns.

This is all assuming you're a daily or regular smoker, if you are, I'd avoid any kind of vaporizer.

I've not used one like a Volcano, but if you're looking at cheap, conduction vaporizers, why not make one of your own to try out?

Friend of mine and I did that back in college.

Soldering iron + thimble forms the heating element + "bowl", rheostat and thermometer to set the heat just at the point where THC boils off but the weed won't burn, and then a glass bottle or something to contain the resulting vapor with a hole Dremel'd in it so you can inhale it (with vent holes at the bottom to draw in fresh air, naturally).

Not by any stretch as good as an expensive conduction vaporizer, but a good way to figure out if you even enjoy it.

High is longer and much milder, taste is very different while partaking, and the smell is very different as well.

I don't smoke anymore, but I always preferred a bong to a vaporizer if I wanted a less-harsh smoking experience. You just don't get anywhere near as stoned with a vaporizer, but it's great if you only have a little weed and want to spend an evening laughing at movies with friends (booze also works for this, though).

Yes, its' very smooth. The air tastes similar to the hint of weed taste in special brownies if you've had them.

I guess I can go on, I just used one for the first time a few weeks ago. I haven't used it since. It did take a while to preheat and it also takes a while (a couple minutes or so) to fill the bag up each time (I believe you can connect a hose also though). The high was nice, but it was a little subtler. It definitely won't knock you on your ass 5 minutes after you hit it. If it were my vape and my weed I would have smoked much more out of it though, so I didn't get a thorough test of it.

I like them for two reasons - I smoke rarely so my throat/lungs aren't all smoked over and impervious to coughing, and the vaporizer doesn't make me cough. The major reduction of smell is nice too. Considering you aren't a daily smoker, could be perfect for you.

Tried a vaporizer once. Broke the mouth piece High was not the same at all. Will probably never use one again.

if you want a good vaporizer, you really have to drop the $ on it. seriously. most of the people that say vaporizers suck have never smoked out of a good vaporizer, only broke stoner shit that is worth less than a homemade.

they pay themselves off in about a year depending on how heavily you smoke out of them. the good ones WILL get you higher with less weed, the shitty ones will waste your weed. Digit volcanos are the standard for good, but there are better.

a good vaporizer is somewhere inbetween a pipe and a bong high, depending on the bud of course. some bud vaporizes better than others (natural moisture and composition, THC levels, etc), but most of the time it's just about how dank of stuff you're smoking anyways.

in short, yes, a good vaporizer is 100% worthwhile. you need the investment cash (400+), but it pays itself off. IT PAYS ITSELF OFF. you can't really grasp that until you actually see how much weed a good vaporizer will save you or unless you have worked with investments before.

look at it this way. not only do you get a totally different, totally bomb high (assuming you dont get a shit vap), but you get to spend less on bud.
