Only downside to the trailers is 5 frickin' months left to go! Half wish they'd waited till next year before showing them.
I was actually hoping that the success of these movies would spurn some interest in rebooting Star Trek as a TV series but after the previous lukewarm receptions to both Voyager and Enterprise I don't think it's gonna happen. Ah well, thats what TNG and DS9 reruns are for.
10 min leak. its not quality but its something
Edit: its gone =/
Now would be the perfect time to remake Andromeda as a Star Trek series like it always should've been.
Here's the re-up of the trailer and info an the viral hidden within.

Eagle eyed fans watching the new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness for clues as to the narrative and mysteries of the film may notice something extra in the trailer at about 1:05/1:07 seconds into the excitement. As the camera pans towards John Harrison standing alone in presumably a brig of some kind, look to the right panels and the words “AreYouThe1701.com” appear.
Directing your browser to www.areyouthe1701.com gets fans to a webpage where they could sign up for future updates. The information forms asks “Shall We Begin?” and fans could enter their information. Once completed, a notice “Thank you, we will tell you when the search begins.” There are also links to a Facebook page (facebook.com/AreYouThe1701) and Twitter account (twitter.com/areyouthe1701) that fans could “like” and “follow” although there is not much beyond the same graphics on the viral page. The only tweet so far says “Are You The 1701?”

Whoa. I liked the first one a lot but this looks incredible!
holy shit
Keep coming out with trailers like that and I won't have any jizz left in me Dx
If he can do this with Star Wars...well, he'll put himself into the gawd-tier of moviemaking, even if it's only having a golden touch with reboots. Sorta like Peter Jackson.
Am i the only one who got a strong Indiana Jones vibe from the red-forest running and subsequent Ship-From-the-water bit?
I have to admit, a part of me will miss the technical fun of the series... the sciences behind it... But the other part of me thinks these will be good action films to say the least. I mean, Phasers apparently dont exist and are replaced with Judge Dredd pistols, but I'll be d*mned if i don't see this movie anyway. Looks fun. (Then again, I didn't see much of the Original Series, Phasers could have always looked like guns in that one... Whoops ;x)
Excited to see it.
uhm, they used phasers in the first movie. i *distinctly* remember spock telling security to set phasers to stun when they went to apprehend kirk and scotty when they teleported into engineering
I was talking about the design of the weapons being used in the photos, which looked more like a Klingon or Romulan disruptor rather than a Phaser in the sense of how they appear in TNG onward. Sorry If i wasn't being very clear on that point >.<;
Which is also why i brought up not knowing how they looked in the Original series due to not seeing a lot of it. It was really more of a minor ... i won't even say "issues", its not really an issues, more just something i noticed. But yah, I meant their design, not that they've disappeared entirely.
