Don't watch Prometheus then, you'd be able to fly the Enterprise through the plot holes.

Speaking on plot holes, I rewatched Star Trek 1 (New universe) last night, it was on FX.

Dear Lord, why did people (including me) love it so much?!?!?!?! I can handle the fact they rewrote the universe, that happens in reboots, but some of the storyline crap is insanely bad. "Star Trek order 619, a commander is emotionally compromised...." Oh my, rewatching with a critical eye, it's pretty bad.....

    just saw the movie
    Spoiler: show
I should preface this by saying I know absolutely nothing about Star Trek outside seeing the first JJ Abrams movie and pop culture references.
Movie itself had a good flow. I'm glad that didn't try and extend the reveal of Benedict Cumberbatch being Khan. I really thought everyone did a good job of acting, especially for something that could have just relied heavily on all the special effects.
My big complaint was the last 45 minutes was very predictable. It did not take away too much from the movie, however.

I'm sitting for the 3D IMAX right now. Starts in 20. They gave us some sweet glow in the dark movie posters.

^got the same poster after watching it tonight.

I liked it buuuuuuuuuuuut, I would have enjoyed it more if I never saw any Star Trek movies before.

    Spoiler: show
It started great and even though the second I saw Cumberbatch flinging Klingons like rag dolls I knew he was Khan, I thought they did a good job with the slow reveal of his character. I really liked the movie until the second Kirk stepped into the radiation chamber and it was suddenly a complete reboot of Wrath of Khan. Yea, they flipped the roles but I was just sitting there thinking, this is nowhere near as powerful to me because I have seen it already, exactly like this. Then, I remembered the tribble being injected with Khan's blood, for no apparent reason other then SCIENCE!, and was like, omg this scene is worthless because they are going to bring Kirk back in 15m with that tribble's blood.

If I had never seen Wrath of Khan I would have probably loved the movie to the end but the entire rest of the movie I was just thinking, this isn't as good as it was before. It just felt like they stole the best parts of Star Trek 2 and altered them ever so slightly to fit this one. I enjoyed it, I just wish it was more original.

So Kirk died in this one instead of Spock? I kind of guessed that from the trailer that showed 2 hands touching across glass. Immediately i thought of Spocks death in Wrath of Khan, and figured they would flip it for this one.

I only had the one poster, the others were for the people that went with me. Hopefully they'll give them out all opening weekend. I think you have to see it in IMAX for that particular one, as it has IMAX trademarks on it.

Just saw it. Good, not better than the first. Instead of making a new story, they did a bizarro remake of an original, which made it a little boring and predictable at times. Looking forward to the next.

Was there anything after the credits? I didn't think there would be so left. Also this movie was hands down better then Iron Man 3 in terms of delivery imo, also I would say it was on par with the 1st movie even if it did heavy hand some shit.

    Spoiler: show
I knew the tribble scene would be a "here's how we bring back someone!" type deal, I was surprised at the reversal of Spock/Kirk a little, but honestly the two of them in that scene did well enough for me find anything wrong with it, even if it was almost 100% like Wrath of Khan, they did a great job

Just got back from seeing it. There were good parts, there were bad parts. There were a number of scenes that felt like they were supposed to be clever homages that just came across as lazy. The climax was silly and didn't make any sense given the parameters established by the rest of the film. Overall, I found it kind of disappointing. Probably worth a watch, but don't get your hopes up that because this is an even numbered Star Trek movie, it's going to be good.

i LOVED the role reversal from wrath of khan to this one with kirk in spocks shoes, the spock KHAAAAAAAN was brilliant and it made the hairs on my neck stand up. loved it, i didn't think it was overdone at all. more of a paying homage which there may have been too much of i suppose but that scene was great IMO.

kinda sad we didn't get to see more of the klingons but no biggie. Here's hoping the next one is going to be something a bit more unique, not that im complaining.

Was very entertaining to watch, even if it was predictable at times, but god damn, those lense flares... should have titled it "Into Lense Flares"... seriously so unnecessary. Can't wait for "Everything that's wrong with..." review.

Couldn't help blurting out "CMON!" after Kirk reverses the chamber scene and when the story lacked the guts to keep Kirk dead after killing him off. The brofist on the glass was completely and utterly wasted here. It's like the writers just said "fuck it, gotta get this in for a reference." and missed why that scene was so memorable.

Cumberbatch delivers big on Khan as every scene dripped with charisma, insanity and arrogance. It's a shame he lacked a line that would be memorable in this film as the original Khan did in WOK.

Also Spock yelling Khan made me giggle. In a bad way. In a why is this in the film kinda way.
