This spoiler-filled FAQ is pretty funny, written by someone who really didn't like the film. I didn't like the film all that much, but several of the things he brings up are some of the issues I had with it.

Couldn't read past the volcano because this person seems unwilling to suspend disbelief for a Sci-fi movie.

wasn't feeling the movie, was dragging drama for 30 then rest action, more action, see good looking woman, more action and last but not least more action.

Not sure if it is safe to ask yet so
    Spoiler: show
So do they have the cure to all diseases and the ability to bring people back from what should be a death sentence in terms of an insane amount radiation poisoning

i enjoyed a little bit of screaming and a new design. Other than that seemed kind of corny for me. Wasn't mad i paid if that helps any.

Its not about the technology they have. It was explained as being cured because of the regenerative qualities in Khan's blood.

There's suspending disbelief, and then there's bullshit. This movie's plot is bullshit. Many of the major characters actions just make no sense, and there's no place for that in any kind of story-telling.

You'll notice I didn't say anything about that. Just that complaining about volcano and cold fusion physics in a sci fi movie is stupid.

The points may have been more pedantic than any I'd bring up, but they were still valid. Especially about the transporter.

That’s ridiculous. Even the ship designed to function in the vacuum of space could handle the pressures underwater — which I’m 99% sure it can’t — even if the thrusters could function underwater, which makes no sense — and even if the ship could survive flying out of the water without the insanely large surface area of the front part snapping off like a twig — why the fucking fuck did they park it underwater instead of just hanging out in space like they were supposed to?!

Because J.J. Abrams saw the Helicarrier scene from Avengers and got jealous, I guess.

    Thank you.

Cool flick. I liked the role reversal of the you know what scene. I thought it was a clever way to show their similarities through their differences.
    Spoiler: show
I laughed the moment Bones put that blood in that dead rotten thing though. I knew somebody was dying, and they were gonna be brought back to life. No way it wasn't happening.

Add in him saving the girl at the very beginning, it was obvious that that was going to happen from the start

Watched it this afternoon, absolutely loved it. Benedict Cumberbatch stole the show, not surprisingly. He was amazing as usual and the movie as a whole was a ton of fun to watch

The reversal was easily the worst part of the movie. It completely ignored what made the original memorable, it basically goes through the motions devoid of the emotions in the original, the bromance is severely downgraded and plays on you remembering the original scene rather than standing on its own and Spock's "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan" made me laugh in the theater. It didn't even have the decency to be as hammy as Shatner's original. Cumberbatch as Khan was an upgrade on the original in that he seemed like a legitimate threat which is more than what could be said of the original Khan.

The fact that they couldn't even keep Kirk dead until the next film shows just how deep the thought went into the scene and the fact they couldn't even KILL Khan in this film is sequel-bait. I guess the next film will be the "Wrath of Khan" because this one was more like "Khan's Series of Unfortunate Events".

    — even better. So what wouldn’t Khan’s blood fix? Decapitation, but most other mortal wounds? Poisons? Phaser blasts, I bet. Certainly most other illnesses and cancers and such. And probably aging, at leats to an extent. So basically Bones has discovered the secret to eternal life, and not only will no one on the Enterprise ever need to die again unless their body is somehow destroyed, but all of the civilization — heck, probably galactic civilization – will be irrevocably changed because of this amazing discovery.

Uh, I don’t think so. I think they just save Kirk and then forget about it.

This made me laugh cause its what I was thinking.

    Thank you.

Reminds me of a Futurama episode - How many atmospheres of pressure can the ship handle? "Well, it's a spaceship, so between 0 and 1"

That's the same thing with most Star Trek stories. Oh, some emergency came up, how to we fix it? "Well, there's this experimental thing that the smartest people in the galaxy have been working on for years with no success. But, I could probably rig something up in the next hour..."

    Spoiler: show
you could make the same argument about it being forgotten 300 years before when they were alive as well

I disagree. I thought it was a great scene having never seen the original. I think most people that don't like it are people that were big fans of the original, but people that are new to the series thought it was good.

idk, while I've never put on a uniform, I've seen every episode of every series and every movie, and I enjoyed this movie. Yeah it had massive plot holes, pandered to the public rather than even the sci-fi community, much less trekkies, and had some pretty predictable parts, but it was still an enjoyable movie.

I went to see it again yesterday solely for Benedict Cumberbatch. Wish he had more screen time in the movie. I'm not a trekkie either so I really enjoyed the whole thing and had no idea about the end switcheroo until after the movie.
