Never hardcore on the Trek stuff.
So no, bring on the mindless fun and let the armchair bitchers deal.

Honestly would love to see a DS9 or Voyager movie![]()
I'd still hit, I'm not gonna lie
I don't know why anyone would prefer Voyager to DS9(or any other Trek series).
Voyager was actually pretty good once Seven of Nine joined the crew.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/12/7...r-ramirez.htmlIt was recently reported that Benico Del Toro was unfortunately no longer attached to play the villain in J.J. Abrams' sequel to Star Trek. The director and studio are moving forward and trailer to find his replacement, and it looks like they may have found him. Edgar Ramirez is now at the top of the list. Ramirez has had roles in films such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Che, Vantage Point, Domino, and is also in the upcoming film Wrath of the Titans.
According to Variety, "Ramirez is expected to test for the role via Skype either later today or early tomorrow." Abrams is looking to make his final decision before the weekend comes. He has to make it quick because production starts next month.
As you've all heard the rumor is that the villain in the sequel will be Khan even those Abrams and the studio have denied it. It seems like it would make sense if it was Khan, after all the director is looking for an actor of Latin descent. This is the same ethnicity of Ricardo Montalban, who played Khan in the original series and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

http://geeks.thedailywh.at/2011/12/2...ws-of-the-day/Star Trek Sequel Casting News of the Day: No cast members from the original Star Trek series will appear in J.J. Abrams’ Trek sequel, sources close to the film told Showbiz411.
The previous film included an appearance by Leonard Nimoy as Spock, which helped tie Abrams’ reboot back to the original series, but it looks like the next movie will continue down its own path. That’s too bad, because I was really looking forward to seeing William Shatner deep-fry a turkey in the Holodeck.
As for the movie’s villain — who may or may not be Khan — Edgar Ramirez is rumored to be the top pick for the role after negotiations with Benicio Del Toro fell through.
The Star Trek sequel starts filming in January and opens May 17, 2013.
http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/12/2...onversion.htmlDirector J.J. Abrams won't reveal much about his second Star Trek film, that's just his style. He's great at keeping story details under wraps. But he did express his excitement for the movie, and revealed that the film would be shot in 2D and then get a 3D post conversion. I'm not a big fan of 3D post conversion especially for films that can easily just be shot in 3D. He also revealed that they might shoot in IMAX, which would be cool. I prefer IMAX over 3D and apparently so does Abrams.
It would be cool to see some IMAX epicness for Star Trek. Abrams also talked about his excitement for the film saying...We're shooting on film, 2-D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the 'Harry Potter' movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good.
We were talking about [shooting in IMAX] and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format; I'm a huge fan.
He continues by talking about think he will do better and differently this time around...It's a little early to be talking about 'Star Trek,' but I will say that they wrote — the three writers, Damon [Lindelof], Bob [Orci] and Alex [Kurtzman] — they wrote the most amazing script, and I'm thrilled to get a chance to direct it. It's totally mine to screw up, so if you don't like it, it's completely on me. Our sets are almost done, so we're going to go back and start shooting next month.
I'm sure, like many people, you see what you do and you go, 'I really could have done that one better, I should have done that, that was a mistake, more of this, less of that.' You always do that. I'm hoping that as we do the next one, all the mistakes that I've made that I've hopefully learned from, I can bring to this one and hope make it better.

ugh post conversion
ya im with you no post conversion, IMAX please. I'm still not on the 3D bandwagon anyway, 2D for me.
I don't understand all this debate/speculation over whether or not Khan will be in the next film and, if so, who would play him. I get that II was one of the more popular ST films, and people liked Montelban, but has there been some big push to remake the second film? Or was it just because they were talking to Del Toro and everyone just assumed Latino actor for next ST villain = II remake?

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/1/4/...ar-trek-2.htmlJ.J. Abrams’ highly-anticipated Star Trek sequel has been busy casting lately. Deadline reports that Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, has joined the cast of Star Trek 2. Variety’s Jeff Sneider (via Collider) confirms that he has landed the role of the villain, the same villain which Edgar Ramirez auditioned for. It looks as though the rumors of Khan being the villain are wrong.
The sequels story was penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof. He joins Noel Clarke, Alice Eve, and Peter Weller as new additions to the film. Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, and Zoe Saldana are expected to reprise their roles in the film, which Paramount is slated to release on May 17, 2013.
Cumberbatch can currently be seen in War Horse and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He is also set to portray Smaug the Dragon with the help of motion capture and voice the ‘Necromancer’ in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There And Back Again. He is best known for playing Holmes in BBC's modern-day adaptation. He garnerd a BAFTA TV nomination for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in 2004's Hawking.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/1/4/...oins-cast.htmlNoel Clarke has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel. Variety is reporting that the British actor-director has joined franchise newcomers Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Clarke currently can be seen on BBC's hit series Doctor Who. Paramount plans to release the highly-anticipated sequel on May 17, 2013.
Not much is known about his role at this time, but the report states that Clarke is going to play "a family man with a wife and young daughter." The film will be directed by Abrams based on a script by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof.
Clarke marks the third British actor in the cast, including both Eve and Simon Pegg. Clarke penned and co-starred in Kidulthood (which can be seen on Netflix). He then went on to write, direct and star in its 2008 sequel, Adulthood. He also wrote, directed, produced and starred alongside Emma Roberts in the heist film 4.3.2.1. Clarke also starred in Neil Marshall's Centurion and the Andy Serkis-starring Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.
