No one told you to shut up, I think you're reading a bit into it too much, or maybe you want me to tell you to shut up, I don't know. I said most people don't care, because they probably don't care.

Looking at the responses to the thread, I'd say I was pretty close with my assessment.

Anyway, the Lalafell look awesome, I love the hat on the mage outfit, also the cool glasses while blacksmithing are great. I'm impressed with the Elvaan females, they look a lot better in 14 than they did in 11, they actually look more feminine this time around, while still looking badass at the same time. Hopefully they won't be the least played race/sex combination this time around (I think they were, although it might have been Galka).

All right all right, that's enough people. Move along, there's nothing to see here.

Back to talking about pictures and wishing Elmer would show up.

I like how one guy is skewering two jellyfish with a lance like a shish-kabob.

Yeah, I want to read what they're saying about the lancer section. I doubt there will be any form of Jumping (farewell, Kain!), but skewering two mobs at once (as well as the focus on more AOE attacks and a more mobile party setting) leads me to believe that SE has, in fact, taken a few things from WoW, and will be incorporating quicker fights against multiple opponents at once, instead of the 5 vs. 1 chip-fest that was the mainstay of FFXI XPing - at least before birds.

FFXI's attack animations have never lent themselves well to fighting multiple opponents, and I've already seen quite a few overlapping attack animations from 11 to 14 in that german alpha, so I hope they won't simply be porting the old battle feel and style into the new game, with a fresh coat of paint slapped on it. If you look at those screenshots at the monk, you can see the exact same hume male stances as in FFXI.

FFXI had some pretty weak-looking stabs, slashes, and thrusts. The only real race that looked like they wanted to fight were Elvaans, and only the males (specifically with lances). I'd like to see a bit less of a focus from looking good in battle with their noodle-wristed limp swings, and more of a "if I don't kill this, this is going to kill me" approach. I'll cite watching an Orc with dual daggers or axes as a reference: there's a savagery there, in fighting for one's life, but also a gracefulness - a feeling that the fighter knows what the fuck to do with their weapons - a feeling that they didn't just start their training with their weapon earlier that morning.

Actually, I'd like to see that -- more experienced and powerful attack animations as your character progresses in level, and not simply new weapon skill animations with the same default slashes and pokes for the entire game. I know that my hume, Gelwain, was not the same Dragoon at level 10 that he was at level 75, and the way he fights should reflect that.

That's one thing I mentioned earlier Lucavi but some thought it wouldn't be a good idea. I like the idea of Fire I not having the same casting animations as Flare II, at the same time I think someone who's a beginner with a sword would be doing simple slashes while someone who's a master at it would be doing flurries, spinning and jumping and such, that's the kind of things I'd like to see, actually seeing your character progress not just in gear but in skill as they perfom as well.

I still have nightmares of watching Elvaan Females hitting mobs with the stick end of the polearm instead of the pointy end, sigh.

I'm really happy Pugilist is a composite class. Yay, I get to be a thug. <3

Also, that lancer taru... probably the cutest thing I've seen all week aside from the husky puppies I saw outside yesterday. And that's saying something.

I'm a little sad there were no mithra (I used to play as one, and I probably still will), but honestly, I don't care after looking at all of this great shit. lol

the lalafells look so cute. Some of the abilities sounded tight, although google translator is a bit hard to decipher, so I'm probably getting the wrong idea about some of the abilities.

For ex. Blood poured heart and soul of courtesy, to spell (HP increase his magic power to scratch)
Share the pain enemy (the damage suffered by his who had just returned)

    thx google

Not sure where I picked it up, but I'm pretty sure the translation of what you just looked at is:

There will be a way to regain MP from the foe after it dies by absorbing its body. (Because there isnt an inherent MP regain)

We both talked about it, but I think the main argument was that it would just be more animations to code in and more memory space (like that's a bad thing?!), but again, if it were PC-onry, it wouldn't be a problem.

Aion's animations are far too flashy and aren't violent enough - that game just screams anime swordplay, but FFXI's animations look like a bunch of pheasants fresh off the farm come war-time. If you're going to fight, at least look like you mean it.

Why would you post this (from Famitsu) in "Dengeki Games Interview" instead of "Collection of FFXIV News from Japanese Media Sources".

Moderator should probably actually do their job and move this discussion there instead of just chiming in, before more people make threads for this information whilst rightfully ignoring this thread thinking its old.

For those that are not able to view the page.
Famitsu doesn't like Hotlinks and NoScript. Allow Famitsu.com on NoScript and copy the link, close the tab/page open new window and paste link in. Should work just fine.

Also... Elmer Signal! D: Want to be able to read what is actually being said there!!
