I say meh to this whole thing. Women got the tools to do what they please, what they do with them is up to them. Never liked these "studies." The world is far too complex and diverse to boil down the human experience into a few paragraphs.

I agree with this. People can do what they want this day and age without being pigeonholed into the certain responsibility of men automatically being the breadwinner and all women being housewives.

I'm sure there's plenty to be said about feminism and what not, I'm just happy that I live in a day an age where if I choose to have a career I can, and if a guy is a stay at home dad, he can do that without problem.

In the end, being able to do what I want makes me happy, not being forced to do something because "that's what women are meant to do", because if someone like me was born in that time, I would be pretty screwed.

I don't think the study cited really draws any conclusion about why women might be more unhappy now than 30 years ago, but I think we all need to remember that this is a subjective study based on questionnaires and that the differences in happiness for women relative to men were only barely statistically significant. In fact, the study begins to question broader meanings of what it means to be happy and whether or not basic perceptions of what it means to be "happy" have changed over the past few decades. Salon took on this study and pointed out that the study explicitly states that many objective criteria for determining happiness and well-being such as suicide rates have gotten better for women relative to men

I actually agree, I have worked in staffs of mostly women and staffs of mostly men, and there was a lot less issues in the staffs of mostly men category, because men just get their job done. Women stand around and gossip about each other then complain when their boss tells them "less talking, more working".

Honestly, we get the shit done faster and more efficiently w/ less the drama. That's not to say there aren't exceptional women out there getting shit done by themselves.

Anyway, the department I worked for was comprised of about 60%+ females. Whenever a new female tutor joined the team, there was like jealousy and bizarre animosity going on. Guys usually don't give a fuck, just get the job done and get the fuck out... unless they're lazy jackasses.

Hey I do manage the kitchen (fiance can't cook at all), handle all the bills, do the grocery shopping, clean the pets/maintain, do all the laundry, etc. etc. My fiance really doesn't have to do anything when he gets home except sit and play video games. I am fortunate atm to not need to work a full 40 hour job so yes I get my breaks too. (omg the home oriented women isn't doing chores 24/7 crazy talk!) I hope someday to be a stay at home mom (or at least work part time that won't conflict with my children's schedules), but as I stated this is not an easy thing to do nowadays, though it is possible in my situation.

Being home-bodied doesn't mean slaving away 24/7 it means getting shit done during the day so everyone can have a break at night/weekends.

So as much as you want to call me a hypocrite, I try to basically do exactly what I think a woman should be doing. Which is what feminists don't want women doing.
