Averaging out, in the context of what you said, to be the same would indicate that more girls are in the more dangerous levels of low self-esteem compared to boys. This correlates with rates of eating disorders, clinical depression, and overall higher suicide rates. No one's saying not to help the boys who need it, but just that it appears there are more girls who need significant help dealing with legitimate problems.
