    BG Medical - Ulnar Nerve

I bashed my Ulnar Nerve (Funny bone lol) against something at work yesterday, not the usual light way most people do, but it was ridiculously hard and instead of the tingly it was a sharp shooting pain up my arm that reduced to numbess and pain when I tried bending arm.

Went to nurse at work, she thinks (and I think, and agree) it's a pinched nerve, and to do a 'wait-and-see' game before going to doctor, cause doctor would probably just tell me same things she did. Keep ice on it, passively move it with other arm if necessary, flex fingers to keep them moving, try and move arm and bend it to exercise the joint.

Currently the little and ring finger are numb, and the joint kind of hurts if I try to lift anything (trying to avoid that)

Before anyone says it, I AM going to go to doctor if it remains shitty over the weekend. Just wondering if there's been anyone who's had something similar happened, anything I should worry about?

I have experienced this to more of a permanent degree it's called Cubital tunnel <AKA tennis elbow>. I have had surgery on my right arm for it and had it in a sling for 3 months. They botched my surgery so it still stays numb and occasionally my whole arm goes numb. I have it in both my arms so i'm kinda used to the numbness now. Sorry for the rambling....

It sounds temporary to me like you pinched the nerve. Also if you sleep on your arms alot it will make symptoms worse. If it doesn't go away after a couple weeks you may want to see a doctors about it.

Pinched nerves are temporary and can usually be fixed by massage therapy or by just not overextending it.

Since the nerve connecting the ring/pinky to the rest of the arm is in fact the ulnar nerve, you're going to experience numbness until it's unpinched. There isn't much you can do other than just try to get the nerve loose.

Try not to flex your arm so much if you don't have to, and use rehab techniques to keep it active (flex fingers, etc). Just don't overdo it.
