Elitist Group suffers problems of its own. I've only done ToC in its various iterations a handful of times, what with only reaching 80 about a month and a half ago, but I know the fights pretty damned well. I'll freely admit that I've not set foot in ToGC25 and don't know anything about their complexities. Seriously, there's never going to be a perfect solution for PUGing.

ToGC25 is no joke and I hope you don't try pugging. That would be your 1st mistake.

I won't; that's why I've never set foot in it. I appreciate knowing that I have made the right choice in avoiding it, though.

Being one of/the most knowledged person in my shitty (getting better under my tutelage!) guild that I'm in, I'm looked to a lot for looking at people's gear/spec/rotations, even though I only play rogue/lock/DK, and when people we recruit are all 'my gear score is X' my response always is some iteration of 'I don't care, tell me what you do in a raid in "insert random situations I come up with her"', and judge their ability to play off that, within reason.

I'm not super-elitist-omg-only-best-simmed-spec-and-rotation, I ask them about hit/expertise caps and other relevant stats, but if they're retarded I don't approve them and it tends to be better for the guild than if they were to just look at gearscore, which happened with one rogue we had join recently, 5.3k gearscore, but the guy was an idiot =/ I enjoyed the brief time my gearscore was 4.5k~ and I was beating him and could rant about why he was still regarded as zomgwtfamazing when I was outdpsing him by 2-2.5k

The majority of GS users are looking to get carried through content. Most of them are bad at WoW too. It's a shame. Its all too often that tools are abused and not used for their intended purpose.

I'm 4/5 in ToGC25 on my warlock strictly through pugs. And yes, pugs, no more than 5~ from a single guild.

What's funny is I have mad skill for ToGC10 on my priest and paladin but I'm 0/5 in ToGC10 on my warlock. I'm 0/5 in ToGC25 on my priest and paladin with the 4/5 on my warlock, lol.

Do you want a cookie? Maybe your server is one of the rarities that you can actually pug ToGC25 from because you have enough competent and geared people.

Yeah, pugs don't even attempt Anub. Twins die and raid breaks up without even trying, lol.

Funny story to add to this.

The same shaman that dissed me appeared in the pug togc 25 group today. I out heal'd him ^_^

The guy was mature enough to unblock me and compliment me on my heals so alls well I suppose.

I do use GS, and WH/Imba at times, to look up people. I'm sorry, I don't care how well you know your spec in and out, you're not sneaking into my ToC25 with blues/greens. I don't blindly use those alone to judge people, I also look at their gear myself to see maybe if it's situational gear or something. *shrug* I don't PUG that often, mostly do guild runs, so I don't use it that often.

Just like XI, good gear makes a good player better, but doesn't = their skill.

don't compare XI and WoW in terms of gear making the player.

in WoW sadly 95% of all player's 'skill' is based on their gear. that wasn't the point of this thread.

in XI you wouldn't kick a rdm for not having a dalmy/ w/e is good these days in a merit pt. XI is 95% skill 5% gear.

That's largely because of the gear cap in FFXI, though. There's still plenty of skill and execution to be found in WoW, but it is dependent on being up-to-date with what an encounter is tuned for. Going into ICC25 wearing Naxx gear is like trying to kill Kirin with an alliance of 65s.

And yet, the alliance of 65s if they know what the fuck they're doing would have a much better chance of winning without wipes than the group of level 75 geared out retards

You've never seen a group of 75s wipe to kirin?

Edit: Before the obvious rebuttal of "You've seen a group of 65s kill Kirin?" No, I haven't, because people don't bother trying, but I guarantee you that a group of 18 65s who know what they're doing will do a much better job than a group of 18 75s who are retarded and don't know how to play, if you can't immediately recognize that I don't know what to tell you, play FFXI more?

A group of 18 wouldnt be able to take out the 4 god fast enough for that. The damage output of lv65 characters would be ridiculous low on kirin as well. Whoever is kiting probably wouldnt survive certain WS either, especially with the lack of movement gear.

Is it doable? Maybe, but I sincerely doubt so.

You needed to kill Kirin to get any +movement gear back in the days of early Kirin runs...
