What Constitutes a Linkshell as a "HNM Linkshell"

actually I think that would be correct. difficulty seems to have little to do with it.. more of competition..

also I suppose one nice difference between HNMls and the rest is that theres more politics, drama and backstabbing in a HNMls than any other kind of LS out there lol. Lotsa people in HNMls tend to be greedy itemwhores who will do anything to get their item and then vanish without a trace.

You can find these people are in 'endgame ls' and 'event ls', although the former has more than the latter somehow - maybe its in the name.

There are nice people out there too, but they're rare/ex.

My 2 cents, not that it matters. Been away from active game for a few months due to deployment, but our LS was always more of an event based LS, but after looking back it occured to me that we had evolved to be a bit more than that.

I havent done ground in forever (have killed all of ground/wyrms/WoTG HNMs), but still hit end game stuff 7 days a week.

Salvage, Sea, Limbus, Einherjar, Sky, KSNMs, ZNMs, Baha/Ouryu, etc. All of these are popped/schedule events, however looking back ive seen our LS walk out and claim/kill any given ground out there (on the rare occasion that we are free and one is ready lol), and have had a blast with AV and PW. So to me, having killed all of ground, having the ability to kill any ground if desired, and having a variety of events that provide members the ability to obtain just about all of the end game super gear available (and fight the 2 hardest mobs in the game) would classify as a HNMls.

I would just classify LSs that focus on ground kings as "ground HNMls". I find those kinds of LSs tiresome due to the drama and very time intensive (not practicle for a lot of people). For those that do have time, have fun! I enjoyed it when I had time for it, and had a lot of good rewards. Nothing however can replace the smoothness and effectiveness of the current LS format (event based, pop based, scheduled times, direct attendance/reward ratios, and LOW drama!). I think ground NMs represent a lot of what is wrong (and a lot of what is right) about FFXI. We will see how it evolves in the next game.

All in all, Im happy to be part of a LS that has fought every mob in the game, had its ass kicked by PW and AV a few times, and has a lot of nice shinies to show for a ton of fun and friendships we have built over the years.

So call it what you want. I call my LS an endgame LS, but I would say it is equally a HNMls, definatley not a ground LS, and probably a little more than an event LS.

Who cares though lol?

My belief on what defines a true HNMLS:
1.) LS camps Nid, KB, and Aspid.
2.) LS camps Tia, Cerb, and Khim.
3.) Linkshell camps DI and SW.
4.) Linkshell camps a combination of all of the above.

I believe camping other HNMs wouldn't make a LS a true HNMLS due to the magnitude of the drops being of less value and competition not being quite the same, with the exception to maybe KV.

This exactly matches my definition of a HNM LS.

Don't be fooled, no world spawn even comes close to being the 'hardest' mobs in XI, even if we remove AV and PW from the equation.

Only taking into consideration Tiamat, Jormugand and Vrtra, Tiamat is the most camped out of the three but by far the easiest battle amongst the three. Even though being extremely successful on our endeavours, I still consider Vrtra way more diffucult than the other two Wyrms but it is not "camped".

The ground kings are heavily camped but by far one of the easier fights in this game.

So leaving out AV and PW what do you think is harder than Vrtra? Not trying to troll you... just interested to hear what you think. It can be zerged but needs luck on TP moves. Killing it conventionally is by far the hardest world spawn NM in my opinion.
