Incoming a huge ass docking station for this lol since all current docking stations cannot accomodate this.
Without the wheel!
Most of the old people I know are still using eggshell colored Compaqs with CRTs and dial-up if you're lucky. Most stay at home wives need nothing more than a computer than can play flash games and use Facebook. Sorry to over-generalize, but I can't see this selling to those demographics especially at the price point it will be at.
Sure they haven't announced the price yet, but it's an Apple product so expect to pay the premium.
EDIT: Perhaps the comfort of use will be the big selling point. He's chillin' in the chair to prove that I'm sure. This will be great for the hipster types that hangout at Starbucks 2-3 hours a day.
No multitasking, so essentially it is just a hueg iphone. Not going to stop people from gobbling it up though, honestly, what other company can get away with holding a press event for every new product? I can understand if it is something innovative maybe but, a big iphone? Come on.
Steve Jobs is good, he picks the youtube video of Modern Family to demonstrate. (Produced by ABC, which is owned by Disney, in which he is the major shareholder... that's cross-promotion for you).
Why the hell would they limit multi-tasking? I thought that the reason they did it on the iphone was because of AT&T bandwidth restrictions. You'd think they would open up all the shit they couldn't open up with AT&T.
Only real use I could see out of this is having a pretty and versatile Kindle. Cept much more expensive.
Pretty much what I expected. Not what I hoped for, but what I expected.
It's really a more capable eBook reader, or a less open netbook, depending on how you look at it. Really, it's pretty close to the original concept of a netbook a la the early ASUS Linux based models.
Not something I'm particularly interested in though.
Unless it's really inexpensive I don't see how this is anything but a way to milk an existing IP. If i wanted a super light screen thing to take w/e I go, I'd get the Mac Air (or w/e that super light laptop is called). This is limited by the Ipod/Iphone OS that is extremely restrictive (unless u want to unlock it), and you can't do anything w/it that u can't do w/an Iphone. Yeah it has a bigger screen and better interfacing for certain app's. But if I DL a game on it will it be HUEG w/the same resolution as u would get on an Iphone? Of course not lol
That's the problem with it. If you already own an iPod Touch or iPhone, then it would be pointless to buy it in my opinion. No flash support really kind of sucks and I am starting to wonder about the battery of the device and if it has a detachable one. I know with iPhones you have to ship the unit to Apple to get the battery replaced or some nonsense. I haven't seen any information that it does something my iPhone doesn't do. Sure you can change the background of the homescreen, but I can do that on my iPhone lol

I'd consider it...I use my iPhone for pretty much everything but a phone, I sold my laptop cause the iPhone was a sufficient replacement, but I've been teetering on buying a netbook just for screen-size lately.
I suppose I'm the target market for this, people who integrated the iphone platform as their primary mobile computing platform, but who whom the iPhone is still a bit too small.
edit: And let's not pretend it's an Ebook reader, reading on an LCD fucking HURTS for long periods.
I'm really underwhelmed by the iPad, and I own Apple EVERYTHING.
ownedShares in Apple fell $4.65, or 2.3 percent, to $201.29 in afternoon trading Wednesday. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company's shares have more than doubled over the past year, partly on anticipation of the tablet computer.
I'm sure there will be a market for it but bashing Netbooks before unveiling that is just...ugh.
apples shares dropped on the iPhone release and every subsequent upgrade. It's just a market trend of shareholder worry. It usually tends to rebound double what it fell over a week or two. But sometimes it takes until the release ( like the tablet may not be available until March 1 for example ) for it to rebound significantly.
im from boston and we already call apple products ipads, im so confused
lmao
Wow that was it? That was the grand announcement? I gigantic iPod Touch? Fuckin fail.
But hey, you can get data through AT&T for $30 a month, even though AT&T is bitching their network can't handle the data request from iPhone users!
