Well, it does cost less than I thought it would. However, if they're reinventing anything (or trying to), it's the software purchasing model. They're trying to make the App Store a new platform, so to speak. While it doesn't jive with my preference for home computing, it's not fundamentally any different than the Playstation Store or whatnot.

I'm sorry, but that's not cheap at all. If it was a Tablet-computer I would be impressed, (maybe w/a detachable keyboard) but for that 3G price range (w/the 3G isn't even that great in a good chunk of area), I'll pass. I'm sure it's back by Iphone+4 technology, but still, I think it got hyped too much

Wow that is not a good deal at all. For that I will just buy a regular Windows laptop and have more functionality out of it on top of better specs... Someone explain to me how this is in any way better than a netbook? lol

iPhone OS at it's core is the same as OS X with a touch bases UI imposed upon it. Limitations to multi-tasking have been imposed to prevent multiple applications from running down the battery.

Take webOS on the Palm for example. It is basically a browser and all the applications running are just web pages, in a way it's not true multi-tasking and developers have been locked out of core API access so games available on the iPhone will never be available on the Pre.

The product was very underwhelming. I think it's priced right and looks like it "just works" which is nice. But I agree with most of the ppl on the board. I will have to test drive one at an Apple Store before making a final decision. I think the real selling point will be the user experience.

The Wall Street "experts" are expecting 1-1.5 mil units sold this year. I will be very surprised.

I disagree entirely. Apple computers are the standard for anyone using them for artistic purposes for many many reasons and the price justifies the quality and reliability a thousandfold.

And the iPod is THE best mp3 player out there.

They have some flops here and there ( lol Macbook Air and now iPad ), but they're very consistent, gorgeous designs, and amazing service.

it just makes no sense to me on alot of the shit they sell and the prices they set them at.
that is why i build my own PC's its CHEAP and saves cash.
i wont disagree the Ipod is nice but i was looking at the Zune HD and it has some faults but i may get it.

it's not a device for everyone. Buy it or don't, I think it will be as much of a success as the iPod touch, perhaps more. Did they just cut the price on the iPod Touch? I forgot how much they were, they're $199 now. Cheapest Zune HD is $189 a $10 dollar difference factor in the app store vs the zune pass it's a toss up. I think the iPod Touch is the better deal.
