Member motivation in "Leader gets all" LS

Also, you might find it interesting that I'm still 1500 points above the next closest person and there's only 12 people above 1000 points while I sit over 7000 after lotting all those drops.

This is the thing I hear most often and also what I just don't get. How? I don't understand the context because I'm unfamiliar with your points system, but how does this make sense? All I can think of is that people just get what they want and leave so they never stockpile points whereas you stay? Still, the disparity seems kind of irrational, and I wonder if (maybe not in your case Dioma but in other similar ones) it has to do with a system designed for the leader.

Whether a LS is based on points or not, one similarity in all systems is that you need a lot of xxxx to get gears. Generally in order for a Linkshell to remain healthy, I would assume the leader is generally at most/all events to help organize etc. This is possibly the sole reasons officers/sacks may have higher points than anyone else. Let's face it, would you rather the leader to be someone that shows up at one event per week or someone that is present for the majority of its events?

Not trying to defend anything but you have to look at it like that, it's more than natural for someone in that position to have one of the highest points in the Linkshell.

Well we've adjusted our system as we've gone but we've always held a seperate point system for Einherjar (I've gotten W. Body, E. Body, V. Body, V. Helm, A. Body from 27 Odins - Passed ~6 A Bodies to main mages and 1 E. Body) and Dynamis. The points that I referenced are HNM and I can tell you that for my two only big drops from HNM, people didn't bid against me above the minimum bid for either of them (D. Ring and Hauteclaire at the time) because they respect me and the work I've put in for both of them. I told the person doing points to take away all of mine for D. Ring but he didn't and even if he did I'd still be #4 or 5 now again if that tells you something about the majority of our members' playtimes. We have had quite of bit of people doing what you mentioned unfortunately as it is very easy to get things in the LS if you work hard. Wouldn't even take a month to get above what I assume to be the next highest bidder on E. Body if she's even there for it.

at least in the scope of mini and stan and im sure papy, ls rules make getting a relic easy as long as you can front the first 40% or so. these people have set farming ways that net them millions (inb4ige) and use the ls rules to help them as well.

Some people don't mind being left in the dust so to speak if they are going to get coherent, stern, solid and effective leadership in the process.

^ I think it's this for a lot of people (myself included). I'm happy to be in a linkshell that knows how to do shit in the game rather than wiping a billionty times with over an alliance of people to something that isn't that hard. I don't mind so much whether or not I get relics or whatever, I still have fun. (maybe I have no ambition?)

I personally don't know why Nynja even bothered to make this. He's not affiliated with any HNMls on Gilgamesh, the most I see him do is use "muscle memory" to exp himself and some mules in East Ronfaure S. The only reason that comes to mind is that Dioma is catching up to him on FFXI ranking and that would give Nynja a reason to QQ some(lawl). It's obvious he knows nothing about HNMls's anymore and trying to throw out respectable HNM leaders such as Wopa,Mini,Stan, etc just furthers his ignorance. Fail thread, Fail OP, refresh/restart and try to make it more believable next time.

Some people just wanna say they are part of whatever linkshell. Kinda like hanging with the cool kids in high school.
Some people want to kill things that other LS don't often(HNM,, being server firsts on a lot of event things like PW, Odin, w/e)
Some people see it as a way to better gear their toon that otherwise sucks so even things that everyone else has are huge upgrades to them.
Some people will suck up to the leader to no end so they can be near the top for harder to obtain gear.
The rest, I'd assume, play for the enjoyment of it and like helping others obtain gear.

This is a problem in my eyes. Not at your fault but your competetors'. My Salvage LS experiences things like this. Where someone has been after usu body or morri body (which we have a total of 2 and 0 respectively in over 250 runs) long enough everyone allows them to bid minimum value. So they get a huge drop for minimum points and are now still slated to lot whatever the fuck they want. It only is gonna work if the person in question is similarly humble and will pass things he truly wants.

Again not saying you're doing anything wrong, from the loot you posted about there it doesn't seem to me like you're really "one of those leaders".

The biggest question to me in this debate is simply about gil and not items. There are a lot of JP LS on Odin that have leaders who take all the gil items and still involve themselves in partial "free lots" for drops such as Wbody etc. Seems fucked up to me.

In the line of some comments, a lot of people only care about ITEMS. They don't play or do events for fun, then don't even like the game, they just want items, to accomplish goals in the form of getting certain items.

They may be terrible rdms, retarded plds or ridiculous DDs but they got DaLmAtIcA, HaUtEcLaIrE and AdAbeRk and that's all they care about.

For this reason they don't care about the rest of the bank or anything else.

Examples of this are everyone who quit game right after get certain item they wanted for so long. Who gets bored after getting all they wanted, linkshells that go crap after leader gets what he funded linkshell for, etc.

You will recognize them because they don't use their gear wisely, they are mediocre at best and they are very very greedy when it comes to lotting and items.

Following this topic I would ask, What's the motivation for people to join linkshells that are clearly created to obtain certain item for leader ?

I guess the answer is the same, but anyway, don't worry, there are also linkshells created to do and enjoy doing end game, and people who play for fun. A lot less though.

Back when I was a hardcore perse member, I watched dioma say: "go to fafnir, we need those drops more than behemoth drops" KNOWING he was the person up for Dring, and KNOWING everyone was willing to help him get it. Dioma is by far the best linkshell leader ive ever met, and ive been in ALOT of linkshells. The other linkshell leader I've met that rivals him in selflessness was nitecon of finalchapter, who was a very selfless person/sack/then leader. DO NOT SAY dioma is selfish, because he did enough for me that I offered to give him 20m~ in alexandrites out of my own gil for his burt for FREE, yes i NEVER expected him to pay me back. why? because he had done enough for me, and I felt that he deserved it, as a DEDICATED, SELFLESS linkshell leader. I HATE when people say that he is even in this league of people who abuse their members. He has alot because of how much effort hes put in to making members of his ls elite. If you could see the before and after pics of peoples gear and what they knew, you would be surprised.
