Member motivation in "Leader gets all" LS

Bidding. Any items obtained are sold, members can bid against each other AND outsiders(in gil of course) to obtain them. All profit is split based on the people at said event. It won't be 100% fair as einherjar items are hard to sell, but competition and free market will make it as close as is humanly possible.

The problem is changing the system once you have already done it as long as you have. That in itself isn't entirely fair to the newer members.

This thread is like some bastardization of the "How do we make a fair LS" and "Are LS funded relics okay" threads.

The answer is:
1) Make a fair LS by finding a group of fairminded people and following them with a system open enough that egregious wrongdoings can be spotted and dealt with yet not so open that it's a pain to maintain.
2) At this stage of the game, LS funded relics are only okay if everyone in your linkshell is fine with handing the person getting sponsored their personal split of the LS bank that would go towards the relic.

Flawed systems are inefficient and/or unfair. Of course a lot of shells will remain in status quo but those shells are lucky to still be running since the majority of their members does not understand how much they are really paying for AF2. I guess these shells offer those members enough for them to stay around, though (fights they wouldn't fight in a lesser shell, some gil splits at least, some rare/ex occasionally, and the hope of a relic being sponsored for them too one day).

why can't they benefit from it? It's not fair because they don't farm as hard? lol? If you were to hand out gil evenly across an entire ls, you would see horribly slow productivity in gear as well as gil going to waste because those people will never attain the relics in a realistic amount of time. Also, if you spread out gil evenly from event to event (which is entirely unrealistic), it's likely the leader will benefit the most from this as well anyways because he will be there the most.

If your dkp system isnt a huge piece of ass, paying for stage 5 encourages people that otherwise couldnt upgrade anyways. Allow people to use dkp to buy currency from ls before stage 5 and have gilsplits. Once you get to stage 5, you wait your turn til you have the most points on the relic list and then yours is funded. You tell me how thats not fair, and dont quote ridiculously horrible dkp values that allow people to get 90% more points than the rest of their ls

All my members who desire BB have it except Febion who is okay with me selling eggs and knows he'll get his soon. You fail to see that more members benefit from selling items than the one who lots it, yet we claim enough so that those members merely have a SMALL delay in getting items we have already gotten so many of. There are 2 linkshell members who want Aces who do not have it who are not on trial, for the record. 2. I have explained everything to you clearly and I know there will be no changing your mind, but some people who actually know how to read can understand what I've said. Good luck with Lullaby v2.

There's nothing wrong with the leader benefitting most. The leader benefitting by such a large margin more for similar amounts of effort is a problem though.

If everyone in a shell is capable of getting a relic, sure. If some people don't have the time/drive/whatever, they're getting 0 benefit from the gil going to the relic system. A completely even split proportional to events attended is always going to be fair, and if the people aren't getting so much more than they deserve they should be fine to finish anyway. Players who can't consider relics still need other mid-tier gear in all likelihood, salvage bodies, cuch/hq hauby/idk for new jobs, etc.. it's not fair to them not to reward them for their time invested.
