That's the one, thanks. Note that you only need Flame or Light, not both. Soil, Breeze, and Snow all have WS that only they boost.
Bumping from a while back, what should I do for G1/G2 BRD merits? No room for Singing/Wind merits, non-HNM usage with an eye towards Salvage.
PM @ you Thorny, unless it didn't send for some reason.
Lullaby 5, Minuet 5, Nightingale 5, Troubadour 5 is the standard usually. If it's gonna be for non-HNM I would say just 1/1 in night/troub just in case if you're ever gonna use it for zergs or anything, and do G1 as Lull5/Min5. Alternatively you can put 5 into finale recast instead of minuet if you find yourself using finale a lot, which would be useful for Arrapago in some cases I suppose.
EDIT: Thinking about it, you'll get more out of the finale merits since you should really just be using march/march on your melees anywho.
I was tanking long before I had full usu. (Of course, I had Spharai, but I think a Hades +1 will do a good job of enhancing hate if that's your goal.)
IIRC I used less acc than you have, so I'm wondering if you're over cap. If I read it correctly, you are around 376 with food and without focus. Outside of bosses, I think that's probably too much. I've never seen parses on it, but I do recall in some earlier runs basically getting no cells and still landing pretty well. (Keep in mind, eyeballing is just plain inaccurate, so take that with a grain of salt.)
I'd get the hades (or +1), merit fully and try meat. You could add a noritsune (over melee gloves) and tiphia over smart grenade if you are still unhappy with the results when focus is down.
Hopefully someone who has seen salvage parses can comment. As I said, eyeballing is just not relaible.
Question about spellcast.
If I wanted to cast the same spell but with entirely different sets based on the situation, is it possible for spellcast to check which macro I'm hitting?
Say I have a full PDT-/haste Utsusemi macro on ALT+1 and a full spell interrupt- version of the same spell on ALT+2, how can I work this out?
It's true that I could set a rule to make the SIR- version go off when shadows/stoneskin are not up but if possible I'd rather have more control on it if it can be done with spellcast.
Make your FFXI macro set a variable (I call mine $stance).
i.e. //sc set var stance seigan or //sc set var stance hasso
Then, make your rules check that variable when executed.
If the value is hasso, put on your DD stuff. If the value is seigan, put on your kneepads and jockstrap/box.
The previously mentioned way works, but I like being able to type out all my spells as well, so I do it using a dummy spell:
Code:<if Spell="Horde Lullaby"> <if advanced='"$String" = "True"'> <equip when="midcast" set="StringAcc"><range>Nursemaid's Harp</range></equip> <var cmd="set String False" /> </if> <else> <equip when="midcast" set="WindAcc"><range>Cradle Horn</range><hands>Sha'ir Gages</hands></equip> </else> </if> <if Spell="Sleepga"> <var cmd="set String True" /> <command>input /ma "Horde Lullaby" <t></command> <cancelspell /> <return /> </if>
You can use a a variable to control this. Something like
And in the macros have something likeCode:<variables> <var name="ParalyzeSet">Potency</var> </variables> <rules> <if spell="Paralyze"> <equip set="$ParalyzeSet" /> </if> </rules>
/sc var set ParalyzeSet FullSkill
/ma "Paralyze" <t>
Of course, changing the variable name to your set names. This is how I swap between what Penta Thrust set I want to use on SAM, works out pretty well. Dunno if you want to include sc commands in your macros, but it's an option nonetheless.
EDIT: I'm slow at posting. :/
All right, thanks for the answers.
Long and kinda useless intro, you might wanna just skip to the question : I am trying to get a few RL friends to either start or come back to playing. Given that I don't have time for actual endgame (being in a serious LS etc.), I am planning to make as much "endgame" stuff as possible with just a few people. I quit ages ago myself, so there are lots of things I do not know much about yet, but I think we will start with Salvage and Sky.
Yes, I know this sounds like this is not going to go anywhere, but I still wanna give it a try.
So, anyway, what set-up of, say, 6 people could take all sky gods (save Kirin for now), and do decently in all Salvage areas? With each player only having 1 job, of course.
If you will just redirect me to somewhere I can get this kind of information, it would be great. The Salvage threads are just too 'Advanced' and I am not too sure about trusting the other wiki's guides.
RDM BRD COR THF DRK DRK can do all 4 outside sky gods, 5/7 jailers, all limbus chips + proto-omega/ultima, all salvage zones(full clear potentially), and give cerb/khim a run for their money. May not win everything first try with that few and low-tier AH gear(given you're all coming back), but you'll have a pretty high success rate once you get the hang of it.
Wonderful. Thanks tons.
Getting bored of how stagnant Asura is and thinking of server hopping. Any recommendations for an active server with a stable economy?
18 Behemoth Leathers -> 18 NQ dusk gloves.
Sell gloves and use leftover gil to attempt more +1, or augment them all and see if SE bones me in the ass some more?
