So I have been leveling dancer, usually solo, usually while i'm not really paying attention. My question is how do I get rid of the recast on the status effects at the top (the ones over pro+shell and signet etc..) I forget how many finishing moves I have and it gets irritating . Ty!

Best way to grill a completely frozen (12ish oz) steak?

(inb4 defrost it first, not going to go into details, I just can't, unless there is a way to hyper-fast thaw it)

Anyways, grilling tomorrow and we all decided to have steak, and I have the most experience with a grill, so I have to do it. Any things actually cooking time wise, heat, etc, I should know about before just throwing a piece of frozen steak on the grill?

How exactly should I test this? What I did was take a friend out, and killed some colibri (not a ton, have to go out tonight but I wanted to post something on here before I left). I used Fuch/Senju (223/227 delay) and I had him use Senju/Shiranui (227 delay on both). I figured if we used the higher delay katanas the difference would be more noticeable then using perdu. With both of us equipped with the same gear (No haste or dual wield) I was attacking slightly faster than he was. I'm not sure if it was because of the tiny reduction in delay, or because of the "hidden trait". After he and I both decided that my combination was faster, I had him put on Suppa to see if Fuch had the same DW as Suppa. After the switch, he was attacking noticeably faster than I was, so if Fuch does have enhanced dual wield its less then the 5% suppa gives.

The way to test this would be by using TP. Pair it with a 227 Katana (like Senju), throw on Suppa (and no other DW gear) and go hit anything that doesn't hit back. This would be easiest in a starter zone, just hitting level 0 mobs.
Senju/Fuchi by maf, should give 4.7 TP per hit. This means that from 0 TP ten hits should give you 47 TP.
If it has more than 1% dual wield, then it should give 4.6 TP per hit and 10 hits will get you 46 TP.

If it only has 1% dual wield, you will need to test it further. Pairing Fuchi with a low level HQ Katana (222 Delay) will give 4.7 TP normally with Suppa and no other DW gear, but if it has 1% dual wield it should give 4.6 TP.



Another interesting Katana that there hasn't been much buzz about is Musanto (Lyft Katana). There was a post in the Lyft thread earlier that implied the GKT increases STR *and* STP by 1 per party member above 2 for a total of 4. It seems likely to me that every Lyft weapon increases a stat and one job-related trait by 1-4%, and it is probable that Katana is either Dual Wield or Subtle Blow. 4% Subtle Blow would pretty easily make that a competitive offhand, right?

I am returning to FFXI and looking to get into endgame.

I have a 75 BST 75 WAR 65 BLM with all the sub jobs. My war and bst gear is best of AH gear minus some luxury items, and no endgame items. I have zero merits. For missions I've done divine might, I'm one BCNM away from sea (CoP 7-5), I did the pirate ship ToAU mission (first BCMN?). My mercenary rank is Superior Private. No one wants to do any of these missions or assaults. I have only done dynamis-sandy.


I don't want to LS jump, what route should I take? I know leveling BLM to 75 is an obvious first but I don't have amazing blm gear, just stuff to get by. Getting merit party invites are slow. I'm sure lots of people do LS merit parties but virtually all endgame application sections I visit have a big emphasis on what merits you have. I feel like I'm so behind because I have not played for years.

They have regen over land, yes. There's a silly rumor floating around that it's less than over water, but my experience leads me to believe it's bullshit.

Yeah, I have very little experience fighting these things, but I worded that poorly. Any idea what the regen is? I.E. Will I make headway just swinging katanas?

After reading all this, I'd say you have a pretty good grasp of your problems. I'd solve them like this:
1) LFG in Whitegate for merits on your WAR. If you don't have a Great Axe, buy a Great Axe. Keep your eye on "/sea 75 inv" for 2 buffers (1 BRD that will sub NIN and a COR or BRD) and a RDM or WHM/SCH, and if you see them don't be afraid to put a party together yourself. Always get Sanction. (imop, GAxe level 2 -> Berserk and DA level 3 -> Warrior's Charge level 1 -> GAxe level 8 -> Berserk and DA level 5 -> Warrior's Charge level 5 -> STR level 5) No one will care about your BST, so merit it after your jobs they will care about if you're doing it to get into an HNM shell.
2) This will get you merits, BS/KS, and IS. The Imperial Standing allows you to do ISNMs or just get Goldpieces. Obviously you can use the seals to do BCNMs and KSNMs, which I hope you're familiar with if you leveled BST. Either way, it works out to quite a bit of profit along with making your character better.
3) Buy the essential BLM gear that you will need (enfeebling gear/HQ Staves?) and solo whenever the merit scene looks bleak. If I remember right, at 67 you should be able to do the Qiqirn in Aydeewa Subterrain, which personally I liked. Don't push yourself too hard and burn out on this. Just focus do 3k/day (one xp band). This will get you more seals and IS.

Obviously you should try to do all three steps at once. In the short term, you're going to be much better off and your playing experience will be much more enjoyable if you just find an active social shell. These will be people that you can merit/BCNM/KSNM/ISNM/bitch with and it'll just generally make the game more fun to have them around. They'll understand if some day you leave for an HNM shell.

I'd also ask, what level of endgame are you looking to do? Hardcore camping? Semi-casual sky and dyna? There's worlds of variation in the term "endgame", which may influence what route you take (a semi-casual, start-up Sky LS may take a melee-only; a hardcore Kings shell probably wouldn't).

What is the point of +8 INT on usu body?

Its for PUP, if you push your int over the int of the puppet it reduces the chance to overload on maneuver. Just need to have a reason to be using the BLM puppet and usu body at the same time now. . .

Ok, if all you use was Fuch/Senj/Suppa though, it could still have 1% Dual Wield on it. You would need to get a Kodachi +1, Shinobi-gatana +1, Kyofu +1, etc and hit stuff to see if it had 1% Dual Wield.


About the steak:
Put it in a plastic ziploc (freezer bag) and run it under room temperature water. Because it's inside the bag, the meat won't lose all of its yummy juices. Then just grill it normally (just flip every 5 minutes until it's as done as you want if you don't have a feel for it).
I don't know where you are that you're considering grilling at this time of year, but if you can't do it outside then I recommend cooking it like this:
1) Put olive oil, butter, whatever into a pan and turn it on High.
2) Toss your steak in when it gets hot (tilt the oily stuff around to see how fast it runs)
3) 1-2 minutes on each side
4) Turn down the heat to low, flip it again, and toss a sliced up onion in and sprinkle the whole mess with salt, pepper, and anything else you want to add.
5) Put a lid on your pan and wait 15 minutes, flip it and wait another 15.

I use to BST burn a good number of KS/BSNM, I need to find a pet LS on phoenix. Also I do use a GAxe, sadly the axe of trials but I'll get a berserker's axe because I know it's short term till I get byakko or eventually perdu voulge. I might even eventually go to byakko spawn and beg for one :<.

I'm looking for semi-casual events. Like ~4 nights a week of sea/sky/limbus/Bv2/KS99/ZNM/Einherjar. I'm still going to level up my blm, I know it's a good asset to have.

Ok, on SAM, if I have Usu body, Usu feet, Rajas ring and Brutal earring, would I be better using a Sword Strap or Pole Grip? Using Sword Strap shouldnt break me on 6 hit correct? Id still be using Brutal and Rajas in WS.
