Joyeuse would be 1/32, Haut would be 1/41, so pDIF values between .031 and .024 would result in a 0 with Joyeuse but not with Haut.

So Haut would hit for 0 less than Joyeuse assuming your potential pDIF value includes that range and damage is floored after pDIF.

As for your example, here is one based on some pretty made up numbers.


lvl 75 PLD/NIN Hume
D = 35
STR = 73
Attack = 400 (inc pizza)

Generic HNM
Defence 500
VIT: 80
LVL 85

ratio = 400/500 = 0.8
cratio = 0.3
pdif min = 0 (-0.14 taken to 0)
pdif max = 0.76
pdif average = 0.38
fSTR = -0.75 (rounded to -1)

Min damage
(35-1)*0 = 0

Average damage
(35-1)*0.38 = 12

Max damage
(35-1)*0.76 = 25.84

You could argue I under estimated the attack for a PLD and increasing it would help pdif, but won't stop you hitting for 0, although would reduce the regularity.

fSTR is not the reason you hit for 0, neither is the base damage, as the Base Damage of the calculation is positive, it is pdif min reaching 0 that does it.

What are you using this for? Rajas + Sniper+1/Toreador's will beat out this combo in most situations, and depending on the mob, sushi will be > pizza :3

TAMAS4LYFE WE COVERED THIS, and I typically use Dorado, I was just confirming that he was in the ballpark for the amount of Attack a PLD/NIN in Acc gear with HQ Pizza would have.

TBH I only put in the pizza comment because I knew if I didn't he would rage about pizza being amazing and it would obviously stop you hitting for 0 while find a cure for cancer and turn Barbara Bush in to a mid 20s underwear model

NQ haub would be 0-1 less acc and much more atk, probably better overall.

Yeah, kinda been waffling there since I'm not sre how to weigh the attack vs. The enmity/MDT-. Huab+1 is out for a bit, I have an NQ, but my HQ is a Hauberk so can't wear on PLD, going to swap it at one point when I have spare gil.

It depends on your server but you could probably swap the avalon for coral scale mail +1 and have a lot of gil left over to do the hauberk/geon swap. Prob enough gil left over to get another hq coral peice to make up the difference in 1% mdt.

+3 inv isn't going to fly on my RDM, I'm lucky if I get get down to 75/80, and that's without carrying my full PDT or MDT sets. I know the benefits of Rajas yadayada been over it, doesn't change the facts that 1) I still spend the vast majority of my time on RDM or SCH, 2) I'm always going to be a RDM main and focus the majority of my 'this, this, or this' reward choices towards it, and 3) In actual practice under the conditions that I play in, Rajas is not going to make as large of an impact as the theoretical math makes it appear.

If I'm on WAR I'm almost always first voking and using RR/KJ, if Aggressor is up I'm probably TPing in Askar body. I get my 6-hits, I am more than competitive with other well-geared DDs, and I don't think anyone would claim that any of my jobs are gimped or poorly thought-out. Maybe not 100% optimal, but I'm content with what I got.
