Except it's not all about inventory. I'm not repeating what I've had to say over and over for years, check out this if you're interested. And by the way, I do indeed plan on getting Rajas when/if I manage to finish SAM. These things are far from black and white, unless of course you bring Sattva into the mix.
You gain lil' more than 1 fSTR. However, it allows yout to maintain your x-hit while also using another grip, possibly Pole grip. Not only that but it adds Sutble Blow +5, which it may seem small but it still helps. Don't think I need to mention the benefits of DEX+5. Overall, Rajas defats all the CoP rings.
Honestly, if inventory is a big deal, cap out your storage and throw some shit there. There's no reason not to have Rajas if you have melee jobs.
Just about every optimum build for all DD's includes Rajas. I should include that anyone is who is serious about DD's should have it. That would be, anyone who is serious about maximizing themselves on any given job they are playing, not just being perfect at mage and just ok at DD's.
Just to note, I don't mean that offensively towards you Callisto, to each his own. It's obvious you care more about RDM than your DD's, and that's cool.
Yeah I specifically said without using Rose. E.Body is not an option for me or that would change things, but even not counting RR/KJ hits I get a natural using Askar body(this is obviously WAR only since Agg is what allows this) using Pole grip. The only time that DEX will really outdo Blitz or straight acc is in a high-DEX scenario(namely RC build).
I'm not about to lose 3 inventory for +5 Subtle Blow(also all my locker/storage/etc is capped and I can still only make about 13 spots if I store all my AF/Relic, RDM + BRD + COR is pretty brutal when I keep all my jobs fully geared.)
/etc
A better question is how the fuck are you full w/ only RDM/COR/WAR when I have 7 jobs fully equipped (RDM/WAR/DRK/SAM/PLD/NIN/BRD) w/ earth and fire resist, a full pdt on all jobs, a mdt set, about 6-7 meds in my mog satchel, 3-4 types of food. And I come close to about full inv now. I'd actually question the type of gear/items that's filling up your inv.
RDM/BRD/COR/WAR/PLD/SCH all fully geared, with some random lowbie R/E utility shit(Emp Pin/Bounding Boots type of shit, FoV'd stuff that I can't mule like NQ Hauby), food/ammo/cards/tools/etc. I'm actually glad to be in a shell that I'm not in charge of at the moment simply to not have to spend space on triggers for awhile.
Edit: A SCH hat drop would make a big difference too as I could then store that set.
That all is in my storage, just meant that's what's taking my storage up, along with a bunch of Salvage 15s/25s, and R/E stuff for jobs I'm currently working on like DRK. The only stuff that stays in my Safe/Locker/Satchel is for the 6 75's so that I can swap without hitting Sandy if needed.
Askar body is the devlol. Also, Aggressor isn't something you use to cap your accuracy, it's something you use so you can swap Haste/Attack gear in where you used to have accuracy and stay at capped accuracy.
I guess it all comes down to how much you like the different jobs. Tamas is a great ring, but Rajas is un-replaceable. If you prefer a marginal improvement in your RDM efficiency to a worthwhile 6-hit on WAR, then by all means go with Tamas.
I haven't done any ridiculous solos on RDM since I came back, but I've soloed a reasonable amount of crap with the crappiest gear buyable and not had any issues. Shadows and W-legs are my PDT and MDT. My INT rings are a Diamond and an augmented INT+2 Nereid, and I have no MND build apart from Errant body and relic feet. I have no enfeebling torque, no HQ Wind/Earth/Water. Right now straight-tanked RDM/NIN solos are difficult for me because I can't rely on potent debuffs, but kited fights go about as quickly as they ever did. I don't know, I guess I'm just trying to say that I think people overestimate how much benefit they get from their gear, and you could probably afford to knock 5 of your inventory into your satchel and include 3 rings instead of Tamas.
Excuse me, but the same argument you may make for Tamas you can make it for Sattva. Both rings are inferior choices to Rajas because of all the other available options. You know I've defended Sattva's usefulness countless times, but at the end of the day I'm smart enough to know it's the "wrong" option if we look at the whole picture. Personal decision is personal.
uhh I meant my acc is capped without Agg using Hauberk+1, I swap out to Askar when Agg is up since there's a lot of excess Acc and the sTP/2% DA will be the greatest overall increase I can make to my TP build. With Agg up I also have Blitz on and already had Turban/Dusk/Swift/Aurum on, not much more I can do for Haste without a V.Belt or some miracle Dusk Gloves +1.
The difference is going from a practical 6-hit(via multi-hits) to a natural one, on paper it's a much larger boost, but in practice between the extra hits and the occasional hit that I take, I'm not WSing any less frequently without it, I'm essentially missing out on 5 STR and 5 Subtle Blow(discounting the rare possibility that I'd somehow take enough hits going 0>100 for Rajas to somehow bump me up to a 5-hit).
I read your comment, and still, I can't see how it's not just about space and/or a little gil saved not having to purchase rings.
At the risk of getting massively owned from my general lack of knowledge for mages, what single spell do you cast that requires MND and INT at the same time?
The +MP is barely an improvement, -3 enmity isn't anything that will save you from pulling hate. All of these "upgrades" are very slight improvements over what is available on the auction house.
Now, when it comes to Rajas, there are massive improvements. Several weapon skills benefit from having both STR and DEX present. For TP, almost every job, in top-of-the-line builds, require Rajas ring to maintain a specific X-hit build. Of course downgrades can be made, in the form of White Tathlum, Echphoria ring, Atilla's earring and the like, but again, this is specifically looking at the BEST build possible.
There is no other ring(s) available that give these gains. There ARE for Tamas.
