A big JRPG(one much bigger than Final Fantasy) will be coming out in the next few months - FROM NINTENDO. There are also companies which thrive on their imported JRPGs to the point that is all they are known for.

I can't imagine Mistwalker being particularly happy at that news, considering this game is supposed to be their last big attempt to stay in business. Is it possible for them to find a third party publisher like what happens with ps3/360 games, or does Nintendo have the final say?

This seems like something an online petition would be good for, but I doubt that'd help

Thank you for your interest in The Last Story. Unfortunately, the vocabulary used by this announcement was misconstrued by the British journalists: “No plans at the moment” does not mean that the output is canceled, just that it is not yet scheduled in the calendar. The adaptation of this game could be very long (12 000 dialogues, a record!) and our translation teams are overstretched in the short term.

Some gameplay footage here I hadn't seen. Basically Sakaguchi playing the game for 18 minutes. Town stuff, menu stuff, etc. The game looks silly (BANANA CROSSBOW!) and I really like the menus, load screens, etc.
