0.1 is fine if it wasnt random. You would at least see the constant progress.
Random number generator fucking blows, especially when a faillure take away one precious day of your life (or more). I like to know exactly what I'm getting into, and thing like this doesnt make the game more fun.
trying for higher quality with normal set of recipe really sux imo, i'd much rather the super good items require a very rare world drop or high level boss drop
i went 1/27 while skilling up on hydra peta at the height on inflation, quit the game for 2 months not a violent person so property and body didn't get damaged in the process. Same thing happened when i spent a full 38 hours 1 week end trying for an eye in ifrits cauldron and still didnt get the drop smn/thf i was killing faster than repops, again another 4 month break from the game.
In FFXIV I don't necessarily think we are getting customization in our main roles, but more flexibility to deal with different situations.
Going back to WoW, you get talent points as your customization allocation. This is the kind of system that lacks freedom because there are forced choices between points and there are allocations that will derive more DPS, TPS or HPS than other configurations.
In FFXI, the customization is less in character specific attributes and more in equipment. There are specific scenarios in which there are "best choice" sets but for a lot of cases "shit is situational".
Neither is better than the other, it's just how you design them. Look at WoW and Cataclysm. Blizzard is actually increasing their level cap to increase the number of talent points available but not increasing the general number of talents (all the trees are getting reworked but they are not changing the inherent nature of the trees in general) to give more flexibility and free choice for players.
It's all about how it is programmed. I don't think Blizzard woke up and said, "Hey, lets not give players any real choices!" and I definitely don't think SE woke up and said, "Hey, lets make a bunch of really situational gear to increase player flexibility!"
Even with the maturity we see in MMO's it's still a very young industry and at least for Blizzard and SE both they are looking at how to improve the industry instead of just following behind like a lot of other companies.
lol... contradict much?
And i dont even know what to say to Kayklia saying that customization is a limiting factor. I think there is a misunderstanding deep within that idea, kaylia. Especially with the system SE is using - being able to wear equipment not for your job, providing limitations with that equipment, but also allowing you infinite options relative to the game.
I think what he is saying is that this
was not on topic and thus, continues to derail the thread even more. You are contradicting because you say that he is the only person derailing the thread, yet you are also derailing the thread. Hope this helped.
thread is pretty gay right now
Anyone replying to that stuff is derailing it.
I am looking forward to a (hopefully) good FF game, seeing as how FF13 is utter trash. Even if it is an MMO.
Right? I really wouldnt mind skipping to march 11th right now, id like someone to ruin their beta pass to show me a youtube video. And then on march 12th i get paid by my j0bz0r... YAYE
I think SE is gunna do us sumthin real special with specializaing our characters. I doubt we will be left like ffxi, like as thf/nin or whateves. SE would really let us down if they repeated any mistakes from ffxi. Although maybe its only us perceiving those as mistakes.Originally Posted by Kaylia
