What I'm looking foward to...
1. Lalafell!! I wanted to be a Taru in 11, but it never seemed to fit my job. I ended up being an elven and then a hume (had make a new account) as I became a PLD.
2. I know more what I actually like to do in MMO's after experimentation post-11, and one big reason i quit 11 was because I hated PLD. I'm just not a tank person.. So now I can pick a job I enjoy.
3. Solo-options. Another big reason I quit FF was that there was almost zero solo-ability with very limited exception. 14 will be more casual also, which is a plus.
4. Whole new world with new and old people to meet, and an environment that promotes a fresh start as I've been away from 11 too long.
What I hope for:...
1. Improved battle system: How should I say this... "certain other games" have a battle system that feels much more fluid and realistic, and I hope FF14 works on that, but it seems like they are.
2. I hope the economy isn't AS player-run as it was in 11, because they often messed it up, though I think FF fixed that some-what after I quit.
3. The ability to jump, swim, and even climb would be nice, as it adds more realism. However, its not going to make or break the deal for me. Actually more realism in general is always great. Like in "certain other games" where you can sometimes see a wolf kill a little rabbit. No harm to the leveler because the rabbit offers no exp, but its interesting to see..
Guess that it pretty much. I also hope that its just as good as 11 and even better. I'm sure we'd all be disappointed if it wasn't

I think if FFXIV has enough stuff to do solo and duo/trio I'll be happy. Also if they add a mechanic similar to Fields of Valor. I love me some Fields of Valor. I expect end game gear to require lots of people (as do most MMOs) but have some stuff for cap levels to do solo/duo/trio that are also rewarding. I think the one thing I would want SE to fix is customer service. That is the only thing I would want SE to mimic from Blizzard. Also this time I'm gonna make sure to keep everything FFXIV locked safely away in case I have any problems with my account.

Another thing I'm hoping to see in XIV is a Gambler class that's more true to the job. Sorta like COR but get rid of all the pirate stuff.

I hope they have better customer care. My account was hijacked and when it was returned it was stripped bare. All my items in the armor storage npc were also dropped. I was left with joke items, like a rusty legging and subligar.
Started in 2004, forced to quit back in 2008 because of this. They left the levels, but rather than just wander around trying to start small and afford starting gear for one of the few level 1 jobs I had, I just decided it was over.
tl;dr
Better security. Better customer care. And more crabs. You all hate crabs, but I loved them. And now they look so... manly.

I never gave BST much of a chance, only to about 25 or so. But if we get a similar taming class in FFXIV... I can definitely see myself doing it. Sure, everybody else will have the BST-solo-only stigma and jump ship too, so it would be very crowded everywhere but.... again, those crabs are so much more manlier than player chars...
