Pretty much confirmed there's going to be some 'back and forth' kinda shit going on from jump street.

I think the art of exploration has been lost on most players. It's going to be who can get to cap the fastest, to farm loot, to sell said loot, to fund "relics", to rmt the fuck out of it. It's turned into a fucking business. I'm hoping that whatever system SE implements, that this sort of nonsense has no place in it.
I want a world, not a business.
I'm looking forward to getting the fuck out of Aion. I also really miss a lot of my old friends who have said they will be picking up FF14. It will be nice to play with people that I met 7 years ago again, along with people I've met in WoW and Aion. I can't wait to finally play a taru I mean lalafell after having played a dumb mithra twice.
I just always get a boner for seeing how they implement Final Fantasy franchise traditional characters/items/lore in a new game. The enemies already look awesome (Ahriman) though I'm sad at what the FFXI puppets/Mammets have become. Here's to hoping that Shiva isn't a motorcycle!
I think regardless of how FFXIV is designed, FFXI players will already have this mentality going into the game. For me personally, I want to explore the world just like I did when I started FFXI, but being the competitive person I am, I'm going to want to be the first to do or discover things.
Exploration isn't part of the gameplay, or at least, that's what I've been told in the other thread >_>
If I'm playing this game, exploration is definitively going to be a big part of why I try it. I absolutely love exploring new mmo, and discovering new areas, new monsters and the like is what drag me in.
Eh, I and a bunch of my friends don't care for it. FFXI is the first and last MMO I play... Tried Aion because a friend asked me (four of my friends and I started back w/ FFXI). Anyway, took longer to install than to unistall.
Don't care about the jobs, combat, content, etc. etc.
What i love most about FFXI is being able to change job on single character. The more you play, you became more attached with your toon. People never asked such questions like " Who is XXX? Is XXX YYY's alt?" That is also nice because people really cares about the reputation. Scammers, assholes, nigglets, thieves are quickly singled out and being ignored by the communities. Of course, they can level a new toon but getting to 75 in 2004 was a very tedious task.
gives me another excuse to ignore my family.
Pretty much the same here. For the longest time for me it was just enjoying the jobs and seeing the world, I wasn't obsessed with the best (granted I still had pride in my jobs, but I wasn't writing math proofs to figure out which item was 1% better like I did at the end.) After I hit that 'apex' it was mostly downhill since people who weren't up to that level of playing literally pissed me off to no end and I didn't feel it was worth playing with people who couldn't live up to or compete with that level. The game itself stopped being fun as-is, and competition was the actual fun.
Granted that opened up a whole new life in the game, and my time on Asura was still the best in my 'career,' but the high wears off and eventually decays into nothing. FFXI's gamestyle was oddly addictive even if it wasn't intuitive. I know full well that if FFXIV plays like FFXI did, I'll be addicted for years like I was with FFXI, but I don't regret the time spent to be honest. Grand point being is that I'll spend a lot more time just enjoying the scenery before I get too obsessed with being the or near the best.
You know you loved that mithra booty. Don't deny it.
Well... kinda. Or, they could just join a big-name HNMLS that only cares about if you've got the gear to do your job, or jump servers and change names, or sell the account, then steal it back and change the name, or...
I never really saw that huge backlash for scammers and thieves. I saw more community hatred for casino-spammers back in 06 than I ever saw for a thief. People forget that a thief is a thief when that thief is strong and talented enough to help you get what you want, or maybe they just stop caring. End justifies the means, I guess.
I'm looking forward to a lot of the little UI upgrades that FFXI has been missing. Some stuff that you don't really need, but is just nice to have, for example:
- Receiving messages while zoning
- Getting a system message when one of your Auctions sell
- A better LFG/search system
- Better party/alliance management system (such as being able to swap people from parties within an alliance without dropping them entirely)
There's many other things like that but you get the point.
I think FF11 was overall a good experience. If I listed the positive and negatives, the list of positives would far outweigh the negatives. If they fix crafting and the "HNM" scene or whatever they implement, it will be really fun.
