Grandia, Legend of mana, FFVII, Chrono Cross & Tales of Destiny 2 would be my top5 @ RPG to try on PS1, if you haven't played any of these. ( in no particular order, maybe Grandia first ! )

All the really great PS1 era RPGs I can think of (and some not so great) have already been suggested. Some good old school PC RPGs are anything done by Black Isle: Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment. Going through the Baldur's Gate series alone will tide you over for 200 blissful hours.

Also advising Seiken Densetsu 3. God tier game. Pick Kevin. You'll thank me later when you're strong as fuck at night and still pretty strong during the day.

Caution: If you emulate Xenogears, there's a boss on disc 2 that will freeze the game when he uses an attack. The only way to get by is to cheat or pray he doesn't use it.

. I'd say Xenogears for sure along with FF6 and FF7 and even FFX which I enjoyed as well. Breath of Fire III, Brave Fencer Musashi and Mario RPG. All excellent games.
