I remember when there was no wiki and you had to figure everything out for yourself or from ls mates

I remember Lower Jeuno being the hangout spot before Aht Urghan release.
I remember Mijin being temp. banned for shouting in lower jeuno about how much he enjoys eatting jew pies on Pandemonium ;p
Also, I remember Lifestream, Caffeine, and Ninthcircle on pandemonium :O so long ago :X
Also I remember when I first started and thinking everyone who had a chocobo was a total badass
and the random JP I sent a tell to in my first 15 minutes of playing asking what the hell I do, and him showing me where to get a signet and telling me to always get one then going out and showing me what mobs to kill. nice guy :O
I remember the day I drank tears... http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...aru/Ninjad.jpg
On that note,I remember Mijin being temp. banned for shouting in lower jeuno about how much he enjoys eatting jew pies on Pandemonium ;p

I remember getting my first /tell about joining a "Sky" linkshell (they didn't call it endgame) and thinking i was badass for being accepted.
I remember Royalassassin, Olivegarden (Snow), Mijin (OmegaMateria), Chewy(StarWars), Toxicity getting his RDM body. Etc etc~!
I remember when there was "job priority" in terms of loot distribution.
I remember when helping Kweh LS camp Za'Dha Adamantking on my way to kill Ruby Quadav for RDM maat.
I remember Sky access (falling asleep on mission before), and exping with Impulse members.
I remember when many of players on Pandemonium didn't act like bought accounts.
I remember when people actually communicated & thought stuff out more or they'd be ridiculed. Now it's common place to be semi-retarded and get by without care from anyone.
I remember when Inflation and Platinum Ore's reaching 180,000G each. Making 600-1m+ per mining "run". 10M on a good day.
I remember giving 40M~ or so away before that inflation to friends thinking i would quit.
I remember when playing/thinking about FFXI didn't make people QQ, and they just had a fun time. Now it's all memories and no one truly bonds or plays the game much.
I remember RMT hoarding sky. RMT were even reaching Sea access. Shortly after is when SE really dropped the hammer and now we see virtually no RMT.
I remember when servers had 4,000 ppl on an average day. Not this 700-1200 bullshit (excluding JP time, 2,000 sometimes).
I remember 3 friends and I making over 500m with 3 Thief Knifes and a Kraken Club all dropping in 1 week. Shared the gil out between the 3 of us and went on a huge spending spree. Unfortunately this was during the height of inflation and my 167m turned into 2m within about 4 hours after spunking most of it away on stuff like a 30m HQ Hauby.
I also remember spending 7 hours trying to find Deathknight when he got the first Apoc. Was so epic watching him mow through Tiamat.
Also - Anyone from Phoenix remember that RNG who stole KB with 1% left and solo killed him. He was easily the most hated person on the server for months until he finally gave in and quit. I forget his name now though.
I remember that time Mifaco warp hack claimed Mysticmaker Profblix.
I remember starting the game 2-3 years late and never catching up.
I remember the people I was trying to catch leaving the game.
I remember when I was a no sub RDM new to the game where my only goal was finally killing that orc that camped outside the zone to Ronfaure from North Sandy.
I remember getting raised for the first time by a Japanese player who couldn't explain what weakened was and thought I was deleveled several times from accepting it.
I remember the huge trains in Crawlers Nest and Garlaige Citadel that would effectively end leveling and zoning into those zones was like playing Russian Roulette.
I remember when Black Mages were welcome in experience parties after level 54, and skillchains and magic bursts were planned out and done as often as possible.
I remember when BST and RNG got "nerfed", when rage was implemented, and the QQing by RMT when Leaping Boots and Emp Pin were made R/Ex drops.
I remember reading Rukenshin's livejournal.
I remember when adaberks were blue
Some of the more personal things I remember:
- The first run from your home town to Jeuno seemed to take hours. Oh, it did? What do you mean I agro'd shit 100 times on the way, delevelled a couple of times and had to beg LS friends to come back and raise me again every few minutes?
- Being stuck in Jeuno because you made the mistake of setting your homepoint there and then took hours and hours repeatedly trying to dodge goblins and tigers to get back to Valkurm Dunes to party on your now substantially delevelled WAR. I'm guilty of this one.
- Doing Garrison in West Ronfaure was a scheduled LS event and people would stop and watch.
- You couldn't buy a stack of crystals for under 5k....and I made what I thought was my first 'fortune' from selling them. I thought I'd be rich forever selling crystals.
- My first ever party invite and the first time I arrived in Valkurm Dunes for that party. Dying half a dozen times trying to get to them.
- Unlocking an 'advanced' job was cause for much celebration in the LS.
- Getting airship access was a big deal.
- People left parties because there was a 4 level gap and the exp wouldn't be good enough.
- Doing a /sea all invite PLD ended up with the message "The list has been truncated" rather than having one, maybe two PLD's on there. Both of which are JP and both of which say {English} {Party} {No thanks!} in their /seacom.
- Regularly going to Bibiki Bay to level jobs.
- Seeing a PLD in full AF and thinking they must have the best job in the world. (PLD was my first 75 because of this)
- You couldn't turn a corner in Sky without seeing another LS farming pop items.
- 5+ linkshells all trying to pop Despot at the same time and the inevitable GM calls because the LS's that didn't pop it would stand in the kite path to try and get your LS killed.
- Shouts for help on missions stopped quickly because people needed the missions and would fill those parties in no time. Expect to shout for hours until people get bored of it and help just to shut you up now.
- How naive I was in my first endgame LS. "Get the fuck out! People don't use bots to claim stuff! How's that even possible?!". So very naive.
- Finding that without the internet 99% of the missions and quests I started would still be unfinished.
- Being in awe of the members of any of the top endgame LS's on my server when I first started playing. That all changed once I got to know some of them. Self-righteous know-it-all assholes for the most part mixed in with some genuinely nice people for the most part.
- I used to think this game would have an end and I could get back to my RL. I now realise the end will be when the servers are switched off and until then I'm pretty much fucked.
I remember when Call wyvern was drgs two hour
I remember that quest where you had to kill an NPC in citadel via binding a skeleton on him
I remember those first few weeks where everyone was a noob
I remember 30 people LFP beside the signet guy near konshatat
I remember when having a chocobo meant you were leet
I remember a lv 70 JP in full af standing at the signet guy in dunes voking and staring/laughing at the goblins as they hit him for 1 damage, while all us fresh NA newbs sat and worshipped the ground at his feet.
I remember taking 3 days to figure out where "outside" even was. God windurst was a terrible starting nation back then...
I remember a hundred people bazaaring against the wall at the windurst woods AH
I REMEMBER THE BATALLIA DOWNS BAZAAR!
Now here's one for you guys....
Does anyoen else recall the 7 skulls of sin dropping their skull as well, and people bazaaring them as trophy? I think they were used in some unused bonecraft synth aways back and, it now looks like at some point SE took it out?
I swear to god way back in the first year I remember seeing people with Skull of Gluttony or Skull of Lust etc etc in their bazaars for 9999999999999
Nobody's mentioned the early days of Dynamis yet.
I am curious, it must have been quite something.
