this is somewhat relevent(I think? mabye not)

but I'm going to be living in Canada for 6-9 months with my partner. I won't be working or going to school or anything. Pretty much just keeping him company while he's there for work. Will I need a greencard/visa/whatever? Or will a passport be just fine?

Don't know how long americans can stay in Canada, but for me is 6 months, after that I have to ask for permission to stay longer (it will cost you like 50 bucks and they give you an extra 6 months) or if you are near a border just cross it back and fordward.

I personally wouldn't try to hide, cuz with all the security crap and technology it has gotten easier to trace this and it could ruin any future visits.

Now w/e you do in canada they don't have to know, just don't stay longer that you are allowed.

It was already mentioned, but if you do plan to go to Puerto Rico (which honestly does not have a very good tourist industry) go to Arecibo or Vieques instead, San Juan is too touristy, and it doesn't seem like you're there for the shopping or clubbing, so Arecibo or Vieques would be nice. Preferably Vieques because it has the most beautiful beaches. Since the island is small, you can also visit Ponce for some sightseeing and el Yunque if you want some "hiking". You need a car to move around though, and stay away from the latino chavs.

cool, good to know, thanks. I'll have to do some more research on Vieques, I'm all about the beaches.
